I wouldn't want a flat-out ban, but a lot more restriction is necessary I think.

The comparison doesn't carry the same logic though.

If you don't agree with halal meat, you can choose not to eat it.
If you don't want fireworks disrupting your evening, you can't lower the volume. The noise is still there and seriously annoying.

Amy Jade 03-11-2015 10:47 PM

I think loud ones should be banned, they disturb the peace and cause loads of problems - I understand people may want their own display but I think they should only be allowed the quiet kind.

smudgie 03-11-2015 10:48 PM

Fireworks on Bonfire night, New Year's Eve and special occasions only, would suit me fine.

Lets have silent fireworks!!!

James 03-11-2015 11:02 PM

As I said before it make a real difference if you stop fireworks being sold to teenagers. They're probably mostly the ones setting them off in the street.

Make it a criminal offence for teenagers to buy them in the first place.:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Buy bangers under age and get banged up! RESULT!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

reece(: 03-11-2015 11:15 PM

They for sure shouldn't be allowed to be put off past like 10-11 o clock.

I agree with this

Kizzy 03-11-2015 11:19 PM

it is a common misconception that you can only let fireworks off on or around Guy Fawkes. You can in fact let fireworks off any time of year and any day of the week including Sundays, but you must let them off before 11pm.

Exceptions to the 11pm rule are:

November 5th (Bonfire Night / Guy Fawkes): You can let fireworks off until midnight.
December 31st (New Year’s Eve): You can let fireworks off until 1am.
Diwali (11th November 2015*): You can let fireworks off until 1am.
Chinese New Year (8th February 2016*): You can let fireworks off until 1am.

I agree with your post 100% Kizzy but at the same time causing animals distress that can easily be avoided by controlled firework displays is simply cruel. Those animals don't get a say in all of this. I have held my shaking dogs for hours during this period and it is heartbreaking to see them suffer so much like this.

Most supermarkets ask for ID if you look under 25 so I'm not sure teenagers can be blamed

I've been asked twice already to buy them for teenagers standing outside those supermarkets. I said no.

I don't doubt that but surely that is the stupid adults fault that do buy them for the silly morons.

LukeB 03-11-2015 11:42 PM

I think people should still use loud fireworks and quiet ones up until a certain time.. depending on where it is like if people do it in their back garden then fireworks should stop at around 11pm.. but if it's in woods/parks for festivals then 12am(aslong as they are not close to houses)

Morons will buy them for them.:wavey:

Johnnyuk123 03-11-2015 11:47 PM

My idea of silent fireworks would solve the situation.

Ammi 04-11-2015 05:18 AM

..I saw this in a similar thread on another site and don't know if it's something that would work...

I agree there are no facts to back this up, and if in the case of the OP the fireworks were going off for two hours and 10 minutes that is a lot of money on fireworks so unlikely to be teenagers

I've never been asked to buy any and I've never seen teenagers hanging around supermarkets asking other shoppers either

arista 04-11-2015 07:20 AM

[shattered by commercial grade fireworks being set off without pause for the next 2 hours 10 minutes. ]

Kirk
you need 7.1 Speakers
that can take your Movie above the outside firework

We're going to a display this year though so no fireworks at home.

No Paul - If you only let them off on Bonfire Night, I have NO problem. I celebrate Bonfire Night myself and believe that it's so important to keep alive our cultural traditions, but as with every aspect of life now, it is the abuse by ignorant scumbags which necessitates Legal Action to curb their anti-social behaviour.
