Oh and

Spoiler:

I think too much happened off screen between TFA and TLJ, maybe my memory's a little foggy but wasn't the Republic alive and well in TFA? It seems a bit strange that in the opening prologue they're just like 'Yeah, the Republic died suddenly and The First Order are in charge, lol'

Spoiler:

The Starkiller Base destroyed Coruscant in Force Awakens, remember

I saw it again yesterday and enjoyed it a lot more the second time round.

Tom4784 26-12-2017 09:24 PM

The more I think about it, the more I like it.

I think the continuing backlash towards TLJ is ridiculous and is taking a very DCEU-esque in which people are rooting for it to fail simply because it makes for good clickbait.

Is the first trilogy really that bad? I have lent it off my friend.

As in prequels

They're pretty boring and it doesn't help that they are largely led by two bad actors for Anakin and a romance that has zero chemistry or believability.

4/10 , 3/10, 6/10 would be what I'd rate them.

Watched this today. Didn’t think it was as good as The Force Awakens but the last quarter picked up a lot and I did enjoy it still.

A lot of the backlash is because it got almost-universally glowing reviews from professional critics, and some people's experience of the film didn't match those.

Nah, I'd say it's partially because people got mad at the perceived 'forced' diversity, that the creators listened to complaints that TFA was too safe and stuck close to the original film and instead offered up a film that was, in many ways, a massive departure from Star Wars (IE doing what people asked for). Let's not even get into the people that bitched about Rey being a 'Mary Sue' but got mad that Luke was no longer a Mary Sue either. Like I said before, there's a clickbaity hate culture when it comes to films these days and I think TLJ has largely attracted that crowd and websites are appealing to that for the clicks.

Looking back in an impartial light, the only bad things about this film was that it was too long (the Casino plotline was pointless) and that it suffered from middle film syndrome in that it's main concern is setting up the finale of the trilogy. The writing is good, the characters are well realised and it's daring, the only problem I have with Luke's role in the film is that he isn't in it enough, developing him into a flawed character is not an issue for me.

Just watched it and tbh I don't know what to think. One thing ill say I didn't enjoy was how repetitive it felt, I think there was a few times when the main characters were so very close to death and just in the nick of time something happens to save them. I did however like how this film handled the conflict between the dark and the light side of the force. It felt a lot more real and you felt as if any character could be tipped either way. unlike in the first movie when you're never really convinced that Luke could actually turn to the dark side.

Yeah I agree with this. I'm sure a lot of people just didn't like it but on the diversity thing especially, you just need to look at comments on Rotten Tomatoes to see how many people rated the film negatively because they're offended by things like "the women being strong and the men are weak :bawling: " etc etc

I really loved it, saw it twice so far and will definitely go a third time. It does have some issues - I really didn't like the casino scenes and pretty much all the other scenes on that planet - but it's strong points are amazing. It also set up the finale incredibly well, Rey is now the last jedi standing, Kylo's in charge of the First Order, and this film set Poe up to lead the Resistance. Plus it really built on the relationship between Kylo and Rey which will come to a massive head next time.

Empire Strikes Back is still #1 but it's very close between this and A New Hope for my second spot.

Spoilers

I was wanting more. With Snoke, Luke and Leia gone, it is hard to get excited for what is left. Should have been better. You can tell Mark Hamil didn't like it.

James 20-02-2018 09:41 PM

Here is the DVD or home streaming etc. trailer.

I've seen the film once but I'll watch it again when it is released. I like how they are doing a full documentary on it.

Jamie89 20-02-2018 09:45 PM

Excited for it :flutter:

Ross. 20-02-2018 09:47 PM

Ramsay 21-02-2018 11:18 AM
