OMG Joey i have only just seen this thread , i was smiling on page 2 as things were looking really good , now i'm in tears , i am so very sorry you have lost your beloved best friend , you must be totally heartbroken , as you say it really is unbelievably hard and takes months to get over - as i well know.

My thoughts are with you and i'll light a candle for your boy today.

DemolitionRed 01-05-2016 07:33 AM

Yes, I allowed myself to be really optimistic and he was doing so well,he was no doubt my best friend.
I thought I said this one here but somehow it seems to have not printed,I read something and it came across so true.

It was a picture of a Dog talking to its owner and it was saying something like.... 'I cannot be your best friend for the rest of your life as my life is shorter but I will be your best friend for the rest of my life'.

He sure was that, all the way.
Thank you so much for your really kind and understanding message hijaxers.

Thank you too DemRed, I always knew this day would come but I clearly hadn't prepared myself properly for it as it is far harder than I ever imagined.

the VET says he has died from a stroke.

Obviously I am devastated but because so many wished him well on this thread and Kazanne and Mock were amazing supports to me at the time he was ill in the recent past,I felt I should post it here and thank you all again for your past really good and kind wishes.

Sorry Joey just seen this, that's so sad, but he was lucky to have you as an owner

I have 2 dogs myself Joey and have had dogs in the past that i've had to say goodbye to, and can say that it literally breaks my heart every time, the thing with our fur babies is that all they ask is for love, a meal, a walk and to be cared for, and they give us so much more back, they give us the most important and pure thing in this universe and that is unconditional love, and that's why it hurts to say goodbye. Thinking of you

...awww Joey.....Joey I'm so, so sorry...I'm not going to feel too sad though because I recall when you would update me about uni and how you were getting along etc..and how having him there with you helped you so much, uni can be such a difficult time/being away from family etc but you were able to have part of your family with you, with him there...those times when you and he would go for walks and you were able to clear your head etc and focus yourself..?..he made that journey with you and that's something that makes me smile and grateful for...and that's what I'm thinking about now.../your times together, that you were able to spend some of the most important parts of your life with him and share them with him......

Ammi, you always say the right things.
It is odd but you got me recalling my UNI days and whenever I had to stand up and give any presentation,I always used to do it with him sitting or lying there.:joker:

He used to turn his head to one side then the other while I rambled on but was ironically a massive help as he never interrupted and said, 'I wouldn't say that or put it that way',
Then when my Uni work was prepared,I'd say the magic word,'walk' and up he jumped.

Thank you Ammi, this is a really difficult time but I am getting there.
Really thank you again for those truly uplifting words.
