The fact that so many people who are working require in-work benefits to survive means that if those collapse, the entire supporting tier of working people stops being able to function... and as loathe as they are to admit it - every single higher-earner in the country is entirely dependant on that supporting low-wage tier... and therefore, just as dependant on benefits as the people who actually have them paid into their accounts.

But this makes me deeply uncomfortable (doesn't it you?) that we are now a nation dependent on our benefits system, i think everyone should be worried about how dependent we are.

And what Kirk said :clap1:

I have nothing against genuine benefit claimants.I've been on job seekers before whilst in between jobs.I understand how demoralising it is to go and sit in front of those jobsworths at the job centre while they look down their noses at you.
However having kid after kid knowing that the rest of us will pay for them is just a piss take.

Of course it does, it's an absolute mess. A slowly failing system. But the people who are suffering the most as it fails are the people who have least control over that system... and absolutely no way out of it.

Hardly. That woman is bringing up 8 future tax payers. Every baby born in this country has worth to the government and because birth rates are low in this country, the government economists love people like her. Do the maths...£55.5 a week is spent on each individual in the house. Some of the kids are only a few years off working age but even if we take the baby up to working age and then work out the average tax that person will pay over its working life its considerably more in pay-back.

No doubt someone will jump back at me with, "all the kids will probably claim benefits too".

This place reminds me more and more of the Jeremy Kyle show. Instead of going after people like this, why don't the press pay more attention to all those millionaire tax dodgers that are protected by our present government?.

Like Girth says: they had to dig deep to find such a story.

That is huge chip on shoulder nonsense, very few tax payers begrudge any vulnerable, disabled or genuinely medically unfit person benefit, however when fit able bodied people choose it as a lifestyle choice then yes pardon me for being a bit annoyed at putting in a weeks work so they can sit on their arse

I was on JSA for 5 months at one point, it's an awful experience... but to be honest, as demoralising as it is, I think it probably pales in comparison to being one of those kids.

That's my major issue here. NINE people are suffering because of the actions of just one of them... no one seems to give much of a toss about those 8 kids, because "their mum had it coming".

So children are not vulnerable, then?

Yes Cherie, but we just get on with it. Never having had a feeling of entitlement
Makes you get on with it.
Working hard for what you get makes you appreciate it, and realise you can't afford the amount of kids you would like.

Any chance you could lay off with the insults?

When my nana had her 8 children, she had child benefit and that was it, her family enjoyed good homemade cooking, i know they struggled (i've seen the photo's!) the problem is with todays society is it's a society of self entitlement, people think they are entitled to everything and believe that if they don't get it then it's a violation of their human rights, i believe that it's right there's a cap, i see my sister on benefits with more than enough money, money for scratch cards, money for cans of lager, the kids have an apple mac book (i think that's what they're called:blush:), her kids want for nothing, she spent thousands on her kids thanks to benefits.

My hubby went on JSA after being made redundant, worst and most stressful experience of my life, we almost ended up divorcing:shocked:

We ended up being sanctioned for not filling in a form properly, no warning or nothing, just a straight sanction.....bastards!

Never again!

If parents set an example for their kids, she is raising 8 kids who will go on to each have 8 kids of their own and scrounge of the system. That scenario has more validity than the one you propose

I've tried to find out about the dad but i couldn't find anything, other than he left a couple of years ago because he couldn't cope with the amount of kids!

Very true.Yes there will undoubtedly be accidents but eight times is no accident. You have to budget for and plan a family ideally. You might budget for one and accidentally have two and manage to scrape by but just deliberately pooping them out expecting everyone else to pay for them is irresponsible, negligent and benefit scrounging.

What do you mean "one of them" ? The Dad plays no part in your summations?

Believe me, that's not how the government looks at it and anyway, by the time they grow up, its doubtful we will have a benefits system.

The father appears not to be in the picture and therefore we can assume he's not suffering because of the sanctions.

Of course I think the father should "get of his arse and help them" but - again - is it his childrens' fault if he won't do it?

 Hyperbole rides again.

I wish that just for once your immensely sympathetic posts for benefit scroungers, political agitators and subversives, and certain types of immigrants, would extend to the DECENT, HARDWORKING, RESPONSIBLE and FAIR people of this country.

Note I said 'posts' and not you personally.

rubymoo 11-03-2016 10:09 PM

I think the issue is that this woman feels it's her human right to have as many children as she wants, but she also believes it's her human right to have a lifestyle that is the equivalent to a middle class family, therein lies the problem....

Bingo.

No, it is not the childrens fault at all, no more than it is the childrens fault in families where the dad is doing a 9 stretch for armed robbery and the heroin addicted mummy has 7 kids by 6 different fathers - all on benefits.

All I know is that in this case 8 kids would NOT BE THERE to suffer if the 'poor' mother had exercised a little responsibility instead of indulging her stupid and selfish desire to breed children like flies JUST BECAUSE she KNOWS THAT SHE CAN DO UNDER THIS COUNTRY'S FECKED UP BENEFITS SYSTEM.

No - because it will have capsized under the weight of the in creasing numbers of benefit scroungers such as this wonderful mum of 8 kids.
