Here's my review on The Usual Suspects:

Spoiler:

I have to admit that i wasn't that blown away by it, maybe i don't appreciate it for what it is, i found the first hour difficult to understand what was going on, the last half hour was good with more action, yes it was a clever twist but i've seen movies like this before, and they have been better executed. I love Kevin Spacey anyway, in my eyes he can do no wrong, Gabriel Byrnes was excellent as was Stephen Baldwin (loved the line up scene:hehe:). Maybe if i watch it a second time i'll get it more, i found some of the dialogue difficult to understand which is a bug bear of mine, and if i'm really honest i still don't think i know totally what the film was about or the plot line:/ so for me 5/10 but this mark may change if i see it again and gain a better understanding of the film/plotline.

I did have to pause it a few times and explain to my daughter what was going on

This pretty much sums up how i feel about The Usual Suspects^^^^

Loving this classic movie club by the way

I love his reviews  (even if I don't always agree with him). Such a shame when he died, he was probably my favourite movie reviewer. I'd heard that he disliked this film and had it on his most hated list of that year or something, but I'd never actually read what he had to say about it so thanks for posting this.

Lol Niamh.....i'm glad i'm not on my own:laugh:

I find that with movies that are complex i have a tendency to over think, i did find this website for unanswered questions on The Usual Suspects very helpful and insightful, i have a feeling that i will enjoy it more the second time round, as i was trying to figure out what was going on and probably missed some great moments whilst doing that

Here's the website:

And you're welcome Jamie, i found his review rather amusing

tbh I found it easy enough to follow lol

 It was so long ago since i watched it I really can't remember if I followed it all perfectly first time round  I think it must have been only a year after it came out when I watched it for the first time

Please don't wait on me... Pick the next movie and I will do a back to back viewing this weekend.

rubymoo 28-04-2016 02:14 PM

We'll wait for you Mokka

It's worth a watch Mokka, i love how varied peoples reviews are, try not to look at the spoilers :smug:

Shall we look at suggestions for the next movie after bank holiday Monday?

I've always wanted to watch The Usual Suspects. I might do so either tonight or tomorrow, and post my thoughts once I've finished.

Okey dokey, we'll do suggestions next week and set a film for around Thursday.

Ghost's a good suggestion, not seen that film in ages.

Where you going?

To Spain for a few days, early start tomorrow though, we have to fly from Dublin, that's a bout a 3 hour drive from me, so we need to be on the road for 4am http://www.sherv.net/cm/emoticons/si...y-emoticon.gif

I thought of a few options for future movies

The Colour Purple - high on my list of movies I want to rewatch
The Lost Boys- I have been saying this one to Niamh for awhile now
Gone with the Wind- because I have to rewatch it every 5 years or so :hehe:
Love Story (1970)- it has mixed reviews online, but I remember watching it once in the Late 90's and I had sever bronchitis and was a bit of a love sick fool, so I think I might like to view it again with a clear head
