Mabe but I hope he is still hungry for success. Even if we get two half decent seasons out of him it could give us the edge in those big games.

I look back to Utd buying RVP from us for about the same price for a player the same age after similar seasons, he went to Utd and won them the title.. thats my positive look on it. I'm just struggling to put the two players in the same category and dont realistically think he could do what RVP did for Utd

Strange signing if true not the normal sort of player arsenal normally buy.

Thats a good thing IMO. We need different types of players.

He's no RVP but he'll score goals for us if he gets the service. I dont deny his ability to score goals for us I just hope he's still hungry for success.

Was worried Arsenal were about to sign Higuian or a truly World class striker. Not too concerned about Vardy. Good stuff.

Sorry couldnt stop laughing that you thought Arsenal would actually sign a world class striker. No chance. :joker:

This is a very exciting signing for Arsenal if it happens. You may not be impressed but this is something different . This is not Giroud and Walcott this is a player who's motivated and driven and not the pampered football academy deadbeat players that we currently have in the squad. I'm very excited for this signing if it happens.

Yeah it is.

Vardy also being linked with Liverpool with them offering a higher wage but apparently he would cost Liverpool more as the buy out clause of 20m only applies to clubs in the champions league.

Zlatan to United could be done before the Euros as well

I give him a month before Giroud out plays him and sends him to the bench. Don't get why Arsenal fans disrespect Giroud so much.

He must be getting on now, Isn't he about 35?? but I see that he is still scoring the goals at PSG

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is set to sign for Manchester United on a one-year contract, according to Sky sources.

He will be Jose Mourinho's first signing since joining the club as manager - Sky Sports News HQ reporter Andy Burton says the deal is close to competition and could even be finalised before Euro 2016.

Burton also reports that United were made aware of the possibility of signing Leicester forward Jamie Vardy, but decided not to make an offer because they do not want to block the path of Marcus Rashford by bringing in two new forwards.

By steering clear of Vardy, United believe they can sign Ibrahimovic and still offer Rashford a realistic chance at regular first-team football.
Go on,Rashford!

That might happen as it seems Giroud is not quite as good when he has no competition for his place.

Giroud is criticized by me for many things. Where do I start? . He's horribly inconsistent; he went almost four months without scoring in the Premiership this season. He scored two against Liverpool on Jan 13th then didn't score again in the league till 8th May. Just a few days short of four months. Would you not criticize a striker if he put up those numbers? Meanwhile while he was failing to score Leicester were winning the league. If he'd scored as few five goals in that time Arsenal may have won the league? Who knows?. Giroud played in every single Premiership match for us last season. He didnt start them all but he got on the pitch at some point in every match and during that time produced, up till the last few weeks of the season, 13 goals. I'm trying hard to discount his hatrick against a relegated club on the last day of the season. Too little too late from him. Arsenal last year led the league in chances created with Ozil on his own braking the league record for chances created for other teammates. Giroud scored the same number of goals as Jermain Defoe while saving Sunderland from relegation.

Putting all of that aside , I just think he is one of the most frustrating players to watch. Its the histrionics and play acting that get to me. The hands on the head, the hands on the hips or the beating the ground when he misses a chance. And he misses plenty. When Sanchez misses a chance he goes running after the ball Giroud on the other hand will be beating the floor like he's so unlucky. It was not down to bad luck why he went 4 months without scoring.

He will end up at Liverpool for double the price and it will piss me off

Yeah suppose he has to think does he want to play in the CL with Arsenal and be on a lower wage or come to Liverpool and be on a higher wage but with no CL.

He seems like someone who would choose money

He is very fast and we all know Klopp loves to play a high pace game so its a possibility im just worried about wasting another Benteke/Carrol sized transfer fee

Even in his mid thirties I would still take him over most right now.
We need a proven winner in the dressing room to help us on the pitch.
Even for one or two seasons it could be really good for us.
Plus, it won't push Rashford out. Zlatan does not need to prove anything while a Vardy does. I'm just happy that Jose seems to be taking on board our need to push the youth.

Shaun 04-06-2016 01:42 PM

I would be worried if Arsenal went for him but I can see him with occasional Rashford cameos working really well for United tbf

I thought Zlatan would have really suited Arsenal.
