I've seen some of the members on TV. I'm guessing not many women will be forming a queue.

I don't believe that for a second, if that were the actual reason then why do they allow members wives play?

It all stems from a time when the men folks played at weekends and the women could play during the week, once they had finished their housework. As this meant they played at quiet times, they got a cheap membership (associate) rather than a full membership. It was a method of restricting players at the peak weekend times. Its really that simple :laugh:

Then why not assign membership based on their skill level in that case, across the board, men and women? Instead of just a blanket refusal against all women because they might be too slow. You say it's fair but surely being fair would be to hold everyone to the same standards. There's nothing 'fair' about their decision at all.
