I'd actually be interested to know if the homepage generates much traffic. This isn't a design critique or anything like that, I'm genuinely interested because it seems a lot of forum members at least barely use it (or even remember we have one) and certainly for me it must've been a couple of years since I visited it  just makes me wonder if it's worth the upkeep and effort that's all!

Like does it generate enough hits to warrant it existing, or does it tend to be the forum people find first?

..it really is a great design, Glenn.....some amazing feedback, eh and very well deserved indeed...(I think..)..that means so much more than whether it's something that's possible/feasible to implement into the forum or not...just that you've done it and hopefully feel very proud of yourself and got some enjoyment out of doing it as well...

..I would not be an internet forum Admin for all of the tea in China or anywhere else..maybe that's why you're a tea drinker, weighing up all of the tea in china with life on TiBB.....I hope that you're having a lovely weekend, Josy....

...I can only speak for myself obviously but I do tend to use it quite a bit during BB season because of the articles../pics etc...and for BB fans who were googling and found news articles on the main page here, they would also see there was a forum to take part in as well, so quite a good thing to have, I think../to attract people...

There's no point arguing about it tbh because it's obviously hard to do and not really a priority on this site, the design was really cool but slinging matches over it are just not needed

The homepage is what brought me to tibb. I wasn't interested in joining a forum or reading threads or anything, I used to come to the homepage just to look at the polls to get an idea of which HM's were the favorites etc and who might be evicted... (obviously back before I knew that tibb is never accurate in that respect ), and then I gradually made my way to the dark side ... I think I actually found tibb in the first place because I googled 'BB polls' or something.

I just checked out our homepage and I'm not sure what all the arguing is about? It looks fine on mobile to me, especially as we're only a small fansite. The only thing we're missing I'd say is a menu bar at the top that scrolls down with you as was on Glenn's but that's not a bit deal really.

What have I started? :worry:

I played around with one website maker one night and created something that a lot of people liked.

I didn't say I was Mark Zuckerberg.

The only qualm I have about the forum is that colour splash should be the default skin for guests (but it doesn't really bother me as I don't browse the forum signed out )

Some aspects of the forum are a bit outdated, like why does the option to share a topic on MySpace and Bebo exist in 2016

Josy 04-06-2016 01:02 PM

I agree that the default theme should be changed.

I do also think what James mentioned earlier is really important, it's good people are taking an interest in the way the site looks but what would be really fantastic is if some of our regular members took part in adding bb content, articles etc.

Would it be able to replace them with options for, say, Tumblr/Blogger, Josy/James?

Marsh. 04-06-2016 02:28 PM

I actually preferred the homepage before the current one, but I get that it was changed to be more mobile friendly.

I don't know why the buttons in the menu at the top are so tiny though?
