Ep 4 recorded. Going to watch tomoz
|
Saw the reviews for this are almost universally positive except for a couple (mainly 'Variety', whatever that is) that are complaining about the rape scene in the first episode. (Oh and the third I guess since that's the same clip almost). And general 'overuse of gore' as if there's anything more than whatever's in GoT, TWD, AHS and whatever else is dominating television atm.
Like...it didn't even show anything inside the stable? barely even dwelled on the idea of her being raped at all. idk what these idiots want film and television to be? "Oh rape never happens nope let's never show it in case it upsets someone". I'm one of the first to get squeamish at television and film (why I've never really watched the Walking Dead) but I can't say anything in this yet has especially unsettled me in a visceral sense aside from the treasure-hunting old man and the fork. It's much more unsettling in a psychological sense. |
..I started to feel with last night's episode, a bit of The Truman Show type feel as well..obviously that wasn't based on AI but it's that same awakening type thing...

I've seen a few other people say it's boring etc. It's slow paced but in a good way I feel, they're taking the time to establish the world and the characters and to actually let the story develop. I haven't felt bored once. I'm just glad the vast majority of reviews have been really positive, it's one of the most genuinely intriguing and compelling shows I've watched in a while. My favourite thing on TV atm actually. |
woo hoo i have bake off and then WW to watch tonite
classic combo :flutter: |
So while it hasn't been officially renewed for a second season yet the HBO boss did say this

Just caught up with all episodes and I have to say it's brilliant so far, I'm not really into Western shows but I like the unique twist this one has :clap1:
|
I'd be surprised if they don't follow the theme of the film and have each series set in a different "world" (think I read about there being a medieval one and a Roman empire one?) but then that seems a bit American Horror Story.

I'd still be here for more worlds if they could work them in but I'd still want the story to continue on from the first season rather than going down a more anthological route. |
Yeah I guess the idea of Ford devoting as much time and fondness to this world only to then go on and be like "right, then, what's happening in MedievalWorld today? :) :)" at the start of season two does sound...unlikely.

George RR Martin wants a crossover so I'm here for Westerosworld next year. |
I'm absolutely loving the show so far!!!!
The acting and dialogue (for the most part) is great. I love Thandie Newton and Evan Rachel Wood as actors and i'm finding both of their characters really interesting. I was a big fan of the original film so was really looking forward to this being given the HBO treatment. Sadly they didn't do so well with the sequel film 'Futureworld' (no Michael Crichton involvement) and the original spin-off TV series, 'Beyond Westworld' which was cancelled after only three of the five filmed episodes were aired. I actually thought the basic idea of 'Beyond Westworld' was an interesting one where the 'Evil Scientist' placed various androids/bots in prime positions (a crew member on a Nuclear Sub in the first episode and similar things in the other eps.) with the ultimate aim of taking over the World (ha, ha, ha, haaa!!!). Being a massive fan of Space and Inter-Planetary based Sci-Fi i always thought i'd have liked to have seen a 'Future World' spin-off series where they were inserted into a virtual holo-environment (kinda' like they did on the Holo-Deck on that one Trek spin-off series (was it 'TNG' or 'DS9' ?) so they could have gone off on Spacecraft and had some crazy inter-species battling and stuff. So much potential adventures!!!!! I think the producers said that they've 'roughed out' a basic storyline for 5 Seasons of Westworld already so i hope they carry on getting the funding and viewers to take it all the way! I get the feeling that we could well see some of them making it out of the Park into the 'Real' World which could get interesting (i also loved the film 'The Island' which kind-of touches on that sort of stuff). Glad to see plenty of other people are enjoying the show as much as i am! |
Loved episode 5.
The Man in Black and Ford finally having a scene together :clap1: William abandoning Logan :clap1: The Ford / Dolores scene  (so the voice she keeps hearing is Arnold? I like it), the ending scene :flutter: The promo for the upcoming episodes looks so bloody good. I'm especially excited since we're officially entering the back half now so I think it's all about to kick off :flutter: |

Random but the Westworld IMDB page has been really cool today
http://i.imgur.com/T15xBRp.jpg (the clouds move and the IMDB logo spins when you hover the cursor over it :flutter:) Will watch episode 6 either tonight or tomorrow, from what I've heard it was a really good one (again) :spin: |
Episode 6 was SO good :clap1: :clap1: Best yet by far imo
Everything with Maeve was of course brilliant. Loved Felix just spilling the beans about everything (I hope the Hosts spare him when they inevitably start massacring people), that line when he said he's a human and Maeve replied "How do you know?" was so good. And him showing her round the facilities was haunting, especially when she was passing the dead and bloody Hosts being hosed down. Her having her intelligence raised and her loyalty lowered is gonna be a good combination  Ford having robot recreations of his childhood was a neat reveal. I already figured the little boy was a robot version of himself as a child but I didn't anticipate him having his whole family and home out there too. Theresa being involved in the espionage was a really good twist, really intrigued to find out what she's all about now. The Arnold mystery is so intriguing right now. Definitely can't wait to see how that all unravels. I'm also more convinced than ever that Bernard is a robot. If "I've been here forever" wasn't foreshadowing I'll eat my metaphorical hat  Oh and this is so cool, I didn't even notice it
It's Yul Brynner from the original movie :amazed: |
So did anyone else watch the best episode yet or what
