The R&J balcony in Verona is famous because it has love messages written all over it.

Whoooa. I didn't think they were both real. Freaky.

Wouldn't people have dug it out for experiments or something?
I think Shakespeare based it on these lovers he knew, and renamed them Romeo and Juliet. I don't know all the history. If you ever go to Verona there are loads of tourists, and watch out for sales men.. they try to make you but crap. One of my classmates got punched in the face and mugged.

Oh my God. Sounds dangerous. Awww poo, I'll be too scared to go now.

William Shakespeare wasn't the original writer of R&J. Some Italian dude did it in the 1500's and Shakespeare just copied him.
The story is based on real lovers in the 1300's that one of the original writers knew about.

Is it still used? What pictures? What do the messages say?

Sophii3x 27-02-2007 03:27 PM

I went on it! It's still used for tourists to go on it. The messages people write are just personolised to their lovers.

(BTW you sooo lucky! I accidently threw loads of my Italy pics out last year, BUT I have 1 of the balcony!!)

Lauren 27-02-2007 03:28 PM

Mark, the pictures are from modern day people  Writing love notes and stuff.

Lmao, ohh. It's weird thinking the stuff that actually happened in the film could have happened on that balcony.
