I hope Jones still has her new dog in season 3 (and I hope This Little Bastard is its official name) I was wondering if it's the same dog that Cole and Ramse were gonna eat but didn't in that early season 1 episode

Oh yeah, nice linkage, that's pretty likely, they seem to like to link everyone

Lostie! 25-04-2017 04:12 PM

Oh I stand corrected, it was "this little sh!t" :joker:

Definitely the same dog! Good, I was wondering what became of it since those flashbacks (the animals are literally always my first concern in these things )

Lostie! 01-05-2017 08:09 PM

Turns out they're already filming season 4, probably thanks to the early renewal so they didn't have to wait for season 3 to air first :clap1:

Something I really want before the show ends is some insight on Cole's mother. They mentioned in season 1 that she was afraid that the 12 Monkeys were after her, this really does feel like a show where the story has been well planned out so I have faith we'll get the pay-off eventually .

Niamh. 02-05-2017 09:01 AM

Oh yeah I thought about his mother too, I had this mad theory that :

Spoiler:

The witness is actually Cole himself and he's his own dad lol so Cassie is his mother.......

Spoiler:

I can see the Jerry Springer episode now. "I impregnated my own mother with myself". :omgno:

For a good chunk of season 1, I thought Jones might be an older Cassandra  (with a different accent for some reason). Jones' first name being Katarina and the original version of Cassandra in the movie being called Kathryn just made me think it even more

This is what i love about 12 Monkeys though, it makes me think of the weirdest twists and I'm wrong everytime which I'm glad about

Yeah definitely, time travel gives you the opportunity to consider all sorts of possibilities which just adds to the fun. Especially when ideas that might sound bizarre like your mother also being your daughter and you being your own and your brother's grandmother have already happened in the show  (no wonder Olivia is a bit off ).

The way they play with the whole chicken / egg idea with their time travel is brilliant.

Lostie! 14-05-2017 06:30 PM

This is cool (not actually spoilery, just big pictures )

I'd be convinced Lillian was Jennifer's mother (especially since we know her mother was mentally ill too) if the years matched up but she'd be in her 70s around the time Jennifer is born going off Madeleine Stowe's real age. Then again, this is a show that has time travel and particular people with decelerated aging so it's not entirely outside the realm of possibility  Although I think it's more likely they were just drawing parallels between them due to their similarities.

Tonight!! (well, tomorrow since I'm not in the US but still)

IGN have posted their review of season 3 and it's another extremely positive one. They gave it a 9.5/10 :flutter:

I've seen quite a few reviews and tweets from those who've seen the season early and literally every one has said how brilliant it is. My expectations are high. :fc:

The one thing about the whole season being aired over one weekend is that it will take a hell of a lot of willpower to stop myself from watching them all too quickly.

Niamh. 19-05-2017 02:52 PM

:amazed: I wish Gav watched it though, would make bingeing it easier, did you say it was all being released in one? :fist:

I'm going to wait until I watch the TV series before I re watch the film

Lostie! 19-05-2017 04:10 PM

Fun fact of the day that nobody asked for: The movie was itself inspired by another movie from the 60s called La Jetée that's apparently almost completely comprised of still pictures and voice-over narration.

Lostie! 20-05-2017 12:43 PM

Just watched the first episode, really good opener :clap1:

Spoiler:

I absolutely love Magdalena, I hope she's a prominent presence throughout the season. Between Magdalena and Septa Unella, Hannah Waddingham certainly plays fanatical religious psychopaths well  I found it interesting when she was talking to Cassandra about what it means to be a mother, she seemed to have anger / sadness on her face, I hope there's a backstory there. I felt as if she had been abandoned. I love how the relationships between parents and children has been an ongoing theme of the show all the way.

Ariana :( What a BITCH MOVE, MAGDALENA.

Jennifer's 99 Luftballons musical dream sequence was amazing, very reminiscent of The Name Game in AHS :joker: Very intrigued by the "four horsemen of the apocalypse" she had a vision of wearing the device that Future Cole and Magdalena wore. I already know from press releases for the season what their general role is,
Spoiler:

that they're called The Guardians and are tasked with protecting The Witness so I assume the infant Witness is inside the box they were carrying
but I'm still interested to learn more about them. They look cool af too.

Loved having future versions of Cole and Cassie coming into play too. And I'm a sucker for a causality loop which this show does so well so I liked how Cole got the information he needs for the next step of his mission from his future self, who would have known to give him(self) the information because he already received it from himself etc etc... Yeah, I'm glad this show is back.

Lostie! 20-05-2017 11:49 PM

Watched all 4 episodes now.
Spoiler:

Olivia at Project Splinter is so surreal  I've been wanting her and Jones to meet ever since season 1 and their interactions did not disappoint. Jones using the time machine to torture her though, as much as I love Olivia that was pretty epic.

Ramse dead  Usually I'd be skeptical about it lasting what with this being a time travel show but him saying "Don't undo this" makes me think he's not coming back anytime soon. Wasn't expecting Sam to be killed off either (or to be so much older than when we last saw him).

Jennifer putting on one-woman performances of ET, Jaws and Alien in 1921 :joker: Also cracked up at her playing The Witness.

Ready for the next 3 :pipe:

JTM45 21-05-2017 08:44 AM

I loved the film so when the series originally started i watched three or four episodes and just lost interest really quick.
I've seen a few screen shots from recent episodes that looked much more interesting though (some kind of time travel portal center kinda' thing!) so maybe i'll give it another go.
On the subject of 'portals'............i saw the proper trailer for 'The Dark Tower' last night and it looked rather intriguing to say the least..............and the first episode of the new 'Twin Peaks' premieres tonight of course!!!!!

Lostie! 21-05-2017 05:36 PM

It's grown a lot since the first few episodes. I liked it from the start but the mythology really deepens and expands significantly as the show progresses.

Niamh. 21-05-2017 07:01 PM

Just about to watch episode 5 :amazed:

Lostie! 21-05-2017 07:06 PM

Same but episode 6  Liking the season so far?

Niamh. 21-05-2017 07:09 PM

Yeah I love it
Spoiler:

Shame about Ramse though :(

Niamh. 21-05-2017 07:13 PM

I love Jennifer 😂

Lostie! 21-05-2017 08:11 PM

Episodes 5 and 6 done!
Spoiler:

Kid Witness and Kid Pallid Man were just as creepy as the grown up ones! Got major "Are you my mummy?" vibes when Mini Witness (guess we can call him Athan now) put on the gas mask  Loved the reveal that he's Primary too.

Christopher Lloyd was brilliantly sinister as expected :clap1: Great to have Scottie Thompson back too, definitely one of the most interesting characters in the show.

Bit confused as to why that one Guardian stayed behind when they gassed the tent though. Or did I miss something?

The 80s episode was hilarious, wouldn't really expect a comedy caper esque episode from 12 Monkeys but it was great. Olivia as Jennifer was one of the weirdest (in the best way) things I've seen and not something I thought I ever would :joker: Btw I had no idea Jennifer's mother's surname was Markridge, was that already revealed in an earlier season and just went over my head? Explains why the Markridge Group is called that anyway.

I'm thinking the dead man Jennifer drew from her visions will be Deacon. Very intrigued by the visions with the dead woman in the Witness mask too, she's bound to have significance somewhere down the line.
