I don't know how to copy the chart across, was as honest as I could be, and scored as sitting right on the A/L line and 4 columns into the left, so for those who believe in in this I apparently veer more to the left. Says a lot about all this far-right c**p then.

Maybe you should avoid comments like these if you want to be seen as more central / if you are actually more left yourself..? Because it makes you sound quite right wing?..

I guess it's beause I do have views to the left on some issues, but not on mass immigration. I think that is probably in keeping with many. Some people just like to label those not supportive of mass immigration in itself as being far-right which is nonsence.

But surely labelling people who are supportive of mass immigration as 'lefties' is the same difference?

I also think that some people after they've studied or even just learned abit about politics and this so called left/right divide will change their thinking on many issues so as to identify with a particular ideology rather than letting those ideologies reflect their position.
That's not to say that nobody should change their mind on anything.I've softened on many things over the years but not just to fit into one of these pigeon holes.

How strange nobody has actually admitted to being right wing, like it's some dirty secret

I was thinking that actually. I suspect some may have been less than honest, or maybe the very right members have not voted yet :)

Why would anyone lie just to fit with your assumptions? I believe some said right leaning including me. I see you didn't say far-left as some would have expected. So your point is exactly.

Kizzy 19-02-2017 07:09 PM

I supposevif you're classifying yourself as right leaning I must be far left...as in so far left I need to change my address to ms left of leftville, left world.

Underscore 04-03-2018 02:36 PM

Slightly left leaning.

Centre left.

Beso 04-03-2018 02:59 PM

A bit of everything i guess cause it depends what im looking at.

Matthew. 04-03-2018 03:09 PM

left 90% of the time, although there are some issues that i suppose that i am a bit “not completely left” on

montblanc 04-03-2018 03:10 PM

left

Oliver_W 04-03-2018 03:24 PM

I'd say I "lean right" as a short hand.

I agree with gay marriage, but that's not really left or right these days. I think we should have controlled immigration, and I want the green areas of the UK protected. Again, I don't think either of these are political, per se. I think we should have low flat taxes, and small government.

Brillopad 04-03-2018 04:51 PM

Centre right generally.

MTVN 04-03-2018 04:56 PM

I think the result is kinda skewed because people don't really identify themselves as 'right wing' the way the left do. The left treat that identifier as a source of great importance and wear it with pride, those right of centre would be more likely to use terms like 'conservative' or maybe populist or libertarian, 'right wing' is something that would more often be imposed on them

ethanjames 04-03-2018 04:59 PM

in between left and slightly left leaning

I agree with that. I think the term ‘right wing’ is imposed by some and meant as an insult. No wonder people react.

user104658 04-03-2018 05:25 PM

Err what you can't just have threads jumping a year into the future like it's a totally normal thing to happen. It's ****ing confusing. Especially as half of SD's has had personality transplants since Feb 2017 and their mere-12-month-old opinions now seem bizarre and incompatible with their current whims.

:fist:

user104658 04-03-2018 06:53 PM

Isn't it ironic that on a map, The US is to the left of the UK and Russia / China are to the right?

 blows my mind.

James 04-03-2018 08:08 PM

I noticed during the last general election campaign that many of the posters that would be characterised as right-wing actually said they were voting Labour.

Exactly this ^:wavey:

So the results of the poll really do back up earlier accusations of a right wing bias in SD and beyond...

:laugh2:

what they back up is that right wingers are either embarrassed to admit they're right wing or are in denial

the poll is anonymous so why would anyone be embarrassed given no one would know :suspect:
