I actually really like Evans and like James says he has had a very successful career. His breakfast show is the most listened to in the country by some way and that is largely down to him.

Jezza deserves it though. He was my fav ever BBC presenter.A legend.

From what I've been reading, the figure for Norton DOESN'T include his talk show fee, only money he's paid directly by the BBC. The BBC pay an external production company a flat fee for the show and Norton is then paid by the production company.

In other words... his total income may well be comparable, it's just not all coming directly from the BBC. Which leads me to believe that it's a similar situation for many of the people listed, and that these figures are pretty much meaningless.

Let her GO

[Emily Maitlis is one of the main BBC news presenters. Along with Newsnight she also presents news bulletins on BBC One and rolling news coverage on the BBC News Channel.]

How dare she question why a couple of BLOKES are earning more.

Sack her.

The wage gap is ridiculous as is the fact that so much money is wasted on Chris Evans.

Claire Balding only being between 150k-£200k is considering considering she puts more work in than Gary Linekar and people who are paid more than her.

Cull the overpriced talent from the roster and distribute the left over money to balance out the pay gap.

Crimson Dynamo 20-07-2017 05:00 PM

Its not even like Evans does a days work. He gets tons of holiday and works for 3 hours a day for 5 days a week. Half that time he is playing music plus there is travel, traffic and news - none of which he does. its a fckg joke

:bored:

arista 21-07-2017 03:59 AM

LT
Evans gets up early - Half Days work
he has taken a pay cut to stay with BBC Radio
he was making more on Ch4HD
and Still Can
FACT

"Cull the overpriced talent from the roster "

No Dezzy
its a general pay Cut to all male workers
so by 2020 all the Women and Man are on the same wage
That's the approved plan

Is that alright
Dezzy dear.

:clap1:

He produces his show as well so it does involve a lot of work. Really good radio presenters are very hard to come by and that's the most important slot of the day. Look at how much Radio 1s breakfast show has flopped since they lost Moyles

Oh yes it is but lets leave the BBC alone for a minute because this shenanigans was just another Right Wing attack on the public sector. Why not take a look at the City of London. If you're a female working in the City then you better not get pregnant because you WILL be shown the door. This government couldn't care less about gender inequality. That's why they picked on the BBC and not the City finance centre.

Well we should now extend that requirement to any businesses which have contracts with taxpayers.

All televised entertainment is paid on the basis of things like how many viewers a show pulls in, what AI it gets, and how much work they put in. I'll look more into this later, but are there any like-for-like instances, any examples of a woman who works as many days as a man, for a show that is as highly rated?
