Right to point it out imo. They were obviously displaying an old price or expired offer and if no one points that out then they'll just continue to display the wrong price. Probably means there's other products which are priced incorrectly as well

I think if you'd been over charged a lot on something I'd agree, but when it's 29p on 5 garlic breads, imo it's just a bit sad to complain, get over it

Smithy, how about you start a 'charity'. You pay for all the supermarket mistakes. ;)

I can't believe anyone would suggest we should just accept being overcharged however much it is - that would give the dishonest licence to get away with it. It's the principle, not the amount. 29p here and 29p there soon mounts up.

If it's marked up at a certain price that is what they have to charge you. My local co-op's computers never seem to be able to keep up with their 'offers' and regularly advertising one amount and charging another higher amount at the till. I always question it.

Indeed.

Why should you use your debit card if you have the amount the item costs in cash but they're over charging you? You get charged everytime you use the debit card as well (well you do here anyhow)

But it clearly stated £2. In law they must sell it at that price.

Well I was annoyed that I had to break into a tenner, and when I had the right money.

Another 'bargain' store does that too where I live. Wrong prices, different at the till. They must be making a small fortune from the elderly who think they're getting bargains.

Morale of the story

Dont go to a shop Dezzy or Smithy work in as they will rob you blind

Again... no, they don't have too

Do we have to sell products for the price shown if we have made a mistake?
Normally, no. When, for example, a shop displays products and their prices, the shop is not directly offering them for sale but issuing an 'invitation to treat': when the customer offers to buy the product, the shop can decide whether to accept or reject the customer's offer.

You would, of course, need to correct the price once your error had been pointed out. Otherwise you could be accused of displaying a deliberately misleading price and could face legal action.

Ironic that the member who is always the first to scream about being baited is more than happy to do it to others :idc:

I'm not allowed contactless until next year when I'm 18, do you have to have it for Apple Pay?

Crimson Dynamo 31-08-2017 06:36 PM

The other day i went in to the scummy Premier and bought a bottle of wine, it was listed at £6 but when the foreign chap rung it its said 6.99. I said "no its £6 and he said " oh so sorry " and pressed a button and it went to £6.

Fck robbing bastards, dont go into Premiers they are vile and i am sure launder money, employ illegals and dont pay tax

I never said accept being overcharged but going around acting pissy over pennies and looking down on the Staff just doing their jobs is very petty.

Got to the till and the guy said 'you're 29p short.'

I said, HOW????

He said, 'they're £2.29.'

I said nothing in Iceland is £2.29, it's all rounded up: £1, £2, £3, or rarely 50p...like £1.50. But mostly it's rounded up to the nearest pound.

So he said I had to pay the extra 29p. I reluctantly had to break into a ten pound note.:fist:

So it was afternoon a skeleton staff was on, couldn't find an assistant, then found the assistant manager creeping about. I said, 'HEY! I've just been charged 29p extra for a £2 product.' :fist:

We went round to the freezer and saw indeed they were £2 for 5.

He said, 'fair cop', and gave me an immediate refund. Some people would have just forgotten about it, as it was only 29p. But not me. :smug::hee::joker:

Smug really - rather stupid actually Trading standards would have wiped the floor with them and you probably would have had a nice little Cash sorry. so you blew that one really !

Some staff are twats, my friend has just stated to do home deliveries at Iceland, and they are screwing up every day, my friend's shift finished at 8 at night but was still working at 11, due to the cock ups.

A senior manager turned up the other day and said if you cant sort it get, out of my shop.
You cant defend staff when you said yourself the staff would be laughing behind his back

As long as they aren't laughing in his face then they can do what they want when he isn't there.
