A bit sad really but it was inevitable

19 years and what, 40+ series (?) for a reality show really isn’t anything to be sniffed at if you’re just looking at how it’s managed to last so long. I just wish CH5 had treated it better.

Remember back in 2009 when it was on national news big brother had been axed? I'm thinking we may get an announcement at the end of the series stating this is the final summer but atleast channel 4 regarding bb10 gave us a year to prepare lol....it's allways felt like channel 5 were producing a show and didn't know what they were doing.

I think we all for the last few years knew it was coming to an end and are just waiting for them to confirm it.

They can't keep a show that's struggling to hit the 1.5 million mark in ratings and under a million on several occasions now when it costs so much to produce and the millions in celeb fees.

It's a shame because if they had done this series in 2011 I think it would be a very different story.

supertv247 20-01-2018 10:29 PM

I think if C5 do cut it, it’ll be announced where it’s going first (like how the voice and Bake Off were just moved, never actually cancelled) so it won’t end on C5 like it did on C4..

That’s if anybody else wants it

I’d love it if C4 took it, kept it on hiatus for a year then relaunched it with BB20 in 2020

Jordan. 20-01-2018 10:30 PM

Wont miss it if true

I sadly don't think C4 would take it back, they always slag off the show now :skull:

The controller who axed BB on C4 has literally just left though, there’s a newbie there... so there’s also some hope

MB. 20-01-2018 10:37 PM

Personallyme I don't think Channel 4 will ever take the show back or that they ever planned to revive it in the first place

I think the only channel that would have taken BB was ITV2 but they have LI now so they don't need it

The lifespan of Love Island will be like 4 years max. This year might just Top last year but then it’ll tumble back down, It’s obvious. If ITV2 were smart, they’d put CBB and Love Island together to support one another (so basically have Love Island instead of civilian bbuk in summer)

If it's cancelled then I think channel 5 will just state it's canceled and not say it's going to another channel bb doesn't have that power of bake off and just like when it was cancelled by channel 4 I get the feeling they want rid of it.

I agree though in a perfect world bb20 should be broadcast on channel 4 for the 20th anniversary.

Matthew. 20-01-2018 10:44 PM

Summer CBB is never great anyway, I wouldn’t miss it too much however I think they should still keep Winter CBB and BB

but I don’t think C5 / Endemol will give up as easily as they did in 2010, I think by the time negotiations go through and they eventually do announce it that it’ll be the point where another channel will have it (IF someone has it)

Take the week of the 19th of June 2017, for example. Every Big Brother episode that week was beaten by:

The Story Of...
Can't Pay? We'll Take It Away!
Blind Date
The Murder of April Jones: 5 Years On
Police Interceptors
Meet the Hedgehogs (meet the bloody hedgehogs)

BB sure.

CBB is still even in overnights this last week has been higher than any c5 programming.

I ain't defending the poor CBB ratings but for c5 it's still its highest rated show.

*mazedsalv** 20-01-2018 11:03 PM

Unlikely but what happens if BB19 returns to BB17 ratings?

and will they promote the series as 'last ever'?

lol no one will buy it

i'm a bit sad about this news bc i loved bb and watched it every year bb7-17, but the show is just dire now. i haven't watched a season since last january, given up on the past three after the first week. it needs to end, there's no life left in it.

Headie 20-01-2018 11:07 PM

Let he die. It needs a 10 year hiatus and return on a different channel in future (like Love Island did)

thisisdanny 20-01-2018 11:08 PM

This is an upsetting subject, we need helplines at the beginning of this thread because I am affected by the issues raised.

RichardG 20-01-2018 11:15 PM

what happens to tibb once the show is axed :worry:
