I still like Wayne, but I last night show has put me off Amanda. She was so passive aggressive. If someone had talked to me like that i would have kicked off. I respect Shane so much for remaining calm.

Remaining calm??? he's a patronising sly snake !! .
in last night's HL show he had an unhealthy obsession with Ann , i lost count the amount of times the voice over kept saying "Ann is still the topic" or "Ann is still on Shane J's mind" :bored:.

There was something unpleasant about the way in which Amanda spoke last night and it put me off her too.

What about Shane J's constant bitchiness of Ann , wasn't that unpleasant? .
Amanda was sticking up for Ann and she's clearly fed up of the same political debate on Ann's views on the LGBT community .

Shane J has nothing to give the public now that Andrew's gone his showmance has ended, so now he's pulling an India and playing the victim with this same card , Ann hasn't hurt him in any way yet he continues to pursue this vendetta towards her which is very uncomfortable and tiresome to watch .

Amanda clearly told Shane J she's friends with Ann and it doesn't matter to her what Ann's views are as she's not there to grill Ann .

Ammi 29-01-2018 05:37 AM

...I do understand ShaneJ in feeling he tries to represent the gay community in a way he feels is best...that’s just him and the person he is and thinking of the wider community, rather than just himself and how/whether he’s been impacted personally by inequality...Wayne didn’t even appear to know of Ann’s opposing to legislation that had enabled him to marry his partner, which is obviously a big part of his life...Amanda did seem to know but she’s obviously married as well, so maybe really was just thinking about herself and how she might feel ‘equal’...but many don’t, well they don’t because ‘equality’ still isn’t there so the ‘struggle’ goes on...in the context of work and my working life, there have been gay colleagues...some of who have married or had civil partnerships...because of their chosen profession/vocation in life...the simplest of things are denied them...things like saying ‘my husband and I’ did this, went there also or did that etc ...or showing wedding photographs because those photos show two guys on their special day...anyways, some things that wouldn’t apply in a heterosexual relationship...so although there are civil partnerships now and although there is marriage also..there is still the struggle for true equality ..and that’s the wider picture that Shane sees...but not the wider picture that Amanda and Wayne are looking at.../..all just different people I guess..

Ammi 29-01-2018 06:45 AM

..it just feels with ShaneJ that if he speaks about things that are important to him and a big part of his life..it’s all me, me, me and hush up will you..but if he ‘assumes’ to speak and represent a wider community beyond the me, me, me thoughts..it’s how very dare you, just speak for yourself really ...so can’t really do right for doing wrong......

Did you watch last night's show ??? , all he did was bitch about Ann as he tried planting seeds of doubt in other hm's heads about her . Why were Him & Malika trying to force Wayne to confront Ann ?? :suspect: .

Shane J is fighting an imaginary battle in his head and he's losing , only Malika his fellow mean girl is on his side. The other hm's don't have time for arguments and repetitive BS .

Shane J needs to wake up and smell the coffee, he's not the only one who's had struggles or who's faced problems. And why did he bring up the abortion argument !! he's literally attacking all Ann's views for the sake of it .

...indeed I did watch it, GoldHeart...my thoughts are about the ‘representation of the gay community’, which is the thread title and OP...not about bitching or any other aspect, that’s all kind of another thing...but no, I didn’t agree in regards to ‘bitching’ with Malika or his approach to Wayne...but then I also didn’t agree with Amanda and what she ‘threw at’ him either ...I didn’t see any ‘right’ in either of them with some aspects...it’s obvious that Shane has allowed Ann to get under his skin as it were which so often sadly happens in that confined environment...

I agree with you that Shane has been bitching about Ann, and I admire Amanda for showing the loyalty to defend Ann when she wasn't there to defend herself. She did sound as if she had built up a lot of resentment about Shane's actions and let it all pour out last night. There was just something about the way she did it that I found uncomfortable.

Amanda especially just refuses to accept that people like Anne could have made her life very different if they had gotten their way. Just like India she refuses to acknowledge the work of gay people who have come before her. Things like this matter.

“I’m fine dear, nothing to do with me” The attitude stinks. She has lived her life as somewhat of a pampered celebrity so yeah, maybe she hasn’t been affected so much but the rights she now holds certainly have.

Shane mentioned women’s rights and the Amanda’s first response is “and men’s rights!” Says it all really. She’s the sort of person to respond to “black lives matter” with “all lives matter”. Missing the point completely.

It all makes me very sad, especially coming from older gay people.

So what are you saying here, that Amanda and Wayne have to go out and preach the gospel of the LBGT or they aren't valid in some way? Do you not see how ridiculous that is? And frankly it smacks of bullying.

No. They can sit back and chill and reap all the awards of the work other people have put in for them. That’s fine. But just don’t get angry and defencive when people call you out for your support of a woman who in the past has tried her hardest to make sure your rights are less than other people’s.

You could say that about just about any group, not everyone is going to be politically active, or go on marchs or whatever, they have the right to live their lives as they please, Shane J is trying to ram his views down their throats, it is not a good look.

He is just frustrated watching to “gay” people ally themselves to someone with Anne’s views. Watch the episode again if you need to. He never once incited any kind of bullying. He was simply discussing Anne and her repugnanct views. I really don’t think people understand thenunderlining evil in this woman. **** her age. She’s a ****. Andrew was right.

Which is why I said that’s fine. Not everyone is an activist. I understand that.

so because they are not interested politically and just want to live their lives the way they want to, they must be abused for not having a row, I really don't get your thinking at all

That is not his call to make, to badger other people into his way of thinking, personally I think he is doing it for his own promotion rather than anything else but we can agree to disagree on that

I love to watch the show everyone else seemed to have watched last night. The show where Shane got angry, raised his voice, incited any kind of bullying or name calling..

He answered some questions on a subject he feels strongly about. He quoted some facts about a member of the house.

He was shouted at. Repeatedly. And not giving any room to respond.

So are you saying a Tory supporter cant be friends with a Labour supporter as their views are very different

hazyjo 29-01-2018 11:22 AM

Loved what Amanda said. Don't see any problem with it. ShaneJ needs to stop forcing his opinions down people's throats and expecting people to react or back him. Amanda loves Ann for who she is, not what she believes in. She made that very clear. And Ann is entitled to those beliefs. So what. She does not have to agree to gay marriage. They didn't arrest/imprison everyone who opposed it when the vote went out y'know!

She is a staunch catholic - and I imagine most of her opinions come from the church. They have opposed abortion and gay marriage. Who the f' are we to tell them they can't believe what they choose to believe. (For the record, yes, I do think they're wrong - but why are my views superior to theirs?) I respect what others want/choose to believe. Gay anything - let alone marriage - was illegal in Ann's day. In fact, it was illegal in my bloody day (in Scotland - until 1980!!! Nineteen effin' eighty! The '80s feels like yesterday to me!). I don't believe it makes Ann homophobic.

Amanda to win. It's refreshing.

If their views include the removal of basic rights of a group of people then yes.

If my family (some of whom live in the US) started supporting Trump I would distance myself. Not before doing my best to convince them otherwise.

People are nothing if not their views. And Anne's views make her textbook homophobic. Whether she has some little pet gay friends of not.

hazyjo 29-01-2018 11:29 AM

If she was homophobic she would not want to mix with gay people. No? Wouldn't she just be avoiding them?

Didn't know there was a textbook on it :hehe:

Ammi 29-01-2018 11:32 AM

..I think what Shane J was trying to convey is that it’s only politics/legislation that has enabled some to be able to have the equality to live their lives how they want to...ok, he might have not expressed that in the best of ways but I feel his frustration also about something that’s been essential to the living of some lives...

There are lots of text books on civil rights my friend. Children are taught about Stonewall in school. My 13 year old nephew learnt about it just last year.

And homophobia can be many things. One being exactly what Anne tried to do as a politician which was the removal that of basic human rights of a person based on their sexuality. Which are views she stands by and defends to this day.
