Yeah...That doesn't really happen in Hollywood, especially for prestige films like this.

The whole 'showing a bit of leg' line makes very little sense. The producer in question has been confirmed to basically have nothing to do with this film outside of a contractual obligation to appear in the credits. Honestly, do some research before you write such fiction.

I mean Kirsten Stewart had sex with the hollywood producer Rupert Sanders to get a role for 'Snowman and the Huntsman' so it does happen occasionally actually. I suggest you do some research yourself :wavey:

Regardless he is still a producer of the film and is credited and so my point stands with not wanting to watch a film he has had at least any input in.

Embarrassing.

Well, that just shows that you know very little about the process of making a film if you think a no-name first time film director has the power to dictate over casting directors and the studio who plays their lead. Maybe if Rupert Sanders had a proven track record, it would have been different and he'd have a say but before Snow White he was an advert director that would have no real say on anything other than directing the actual film itself. He's basically a rent-a-director. It's cute that you tried it but you obviously don't know the first thing you're talking about.

It's quite a sexist pattern emerging here of you accusing actresses you're not fond of sleeping their way into roles. You wouldn't accuse men of doing the same.

He's a producer in name only due to a contract obligation because he produced one of the earlier ASIB films. You do not know better or more about this situation than the Producers' Guild so don't try it. If you're ignoring the context then you have no point because your point is built on a purposeful lack of context that gets completely destroyed when you factor in the truth of the situation.

You don't want to watch it bc it has Gaga in it. Let's not pretend you have any moral high ground.

Ammi 16-09-2018 06:00 AM

...the more trailers I see for the movie, the more excited I become about seeing it..because I think GaGa is just so perfectly cast as Ally...and I love that she’s Ally and not Esther also, that she keeps her own identity as it were ...the same character essentially but the name change also meaning that this is all GaGa and not GaGa as Streisand, if that makes sense..?...I can see why she’s receiving so much praise for it...I’ve always felt that it’s one of those movie lead characters that becomes intertwined with the person playing the role...I know it’s not how her own star was born or how Barbra’s star was born, but the role has almost felt a bit like that for me...which is why it’s such a special movie and role, for me anyway...also the chemistry between the two leading characters seems to be there, another key essential...I’m not the biggest Bradley fan but from the bits I’ve seen, it very much works with them both ...GaGa’s impact..?...I wasn’t the biggest KK fan either but Barbra’s impact made that work also.....these perfect and amazing leading ladies, I think..yeah, really excited about seeing it......

Smithy 17-09-2018 04:51 PM

ASIB didn’t win at TIFF (which in the long run is a really good thing), Green Books did (idk either!) but anyway La La La experienced the same sort of huge praising and when it went on to win TIFF, people started to hate on the film and it caused a bit of a backlash, plus Spotlight, Moonlight, and The Shape of Water are the past 3 BP winners, all played TIFF, and none of them placed in the top 3 either, so if anything it’s quite promising that it didn’t win :hee:

He was the director, do some research.

Marsh. 17-09-2018 04:52 PM

You can "show a bit of leg" to get such a huge movie role?

Wow, who knew it was THAT easy? :laugh2:

..Mr A said on Wednesday that he would come watch it with me.....which is perfect...I hadn’t asked him or mentioned it as he’s not the biggest musical fan so I just assumed ..(wrongly..)...that it wouldn’t be something he would go to the cinema for...If it’s excellent then I might go twice, with the girlies as well if they’re going...I think it’s the 4th October that it debuts in our local one...anyway, we have a really special cinema house here in our local town...it has a few very small screening rooms, which are more like large lounges with comfy sofas etc...and you can either take your own food and snacks or have them delivered to your sofa from the adjoining cafe...and you can take your own wine or alcohol beverages as well, not that I’ll be taking wine...it’s a really unique experience that isn’t found very much anymore...and that’s the one I’ll be booking...not Cineworld, which is quite soulless...the only way for me ...to experience a movie like this...it’s going to be such a treat.....

Rod Stewart is on :umm2: so he’ll be performing I imagine :/

She posted a 1 minute snippet of the song “Is That Alright” which isn’t in the film but plays in the credits and it sounds incredible
