If the Mexicans get a dragon, then not even magic walls can keep them out.

The wall is meanigless without the staff.., the wall would also be meaningless with staff. It’s a waste of money.

did you know - physical barriers make it harder to get to places?

user104658 19-06-2018 06:46 AM

No it won't be built because it is a showman's idea that in practical terms is utterly ****ing ludicrous no matter how hard people try to pretend that it isn't. Sure it might make it a little harder. For some people. Maybe it would cut illegal immigration from Mexico by a few percent. Not by any significant margin. And that's if it even was feasible to build and staff a 2000 mile long wall (which, by the way, if there was just one guard every 100m would need a constant staff of over 31,000... So a total staff of well over 100,000). Which it is not.

It would be a colossal waste of time, money and resources for very little payoff. It was a catchy soundbite to win over some simple-minded voters and it worked. There's no reason for him to actually do it.

user104658 19-06-2018 06:59 AM

I actually don't think he ever was serious about it. He said it as a throwaway comment thinking that everyone would get that it was hyperbole, then he realised that certain people were loving the idea and was like "lol... Yeah sure it's a real wall! Why not!". I also don't think at the time when he was spouting that rhetoric he ever actually believed he would win. By the time it became a realistic possibility that he would become the POTUS, that wall-promise was a huge aspect of his voters loyalty. He just hasn't found a way to break it to them yet that it was never going to happen.

He'll probably let people continue buying up the land to "block" the imaginary wall, and then he'll be like "O NO its emposserble now becuzza the damn lefty liberals buying the land!"

Contrary to the popular view, i think Trump is very serious about his wall and given the opportunity will carry it out.

For those that are not aware, Trump has created a new branch of the armed services called "Space Force" So that the USA has domination in space .... and for those that think it's a joke ... think again

"It is not enough to merely have an American presence in space. We must have American dominance in space," Mr Trump said at the White House.

If it was feasible he would carry it out. It is not feasible. Let alone sensible.

There's quite a large difference between 475 miles (the length of that wall) and 2000 miles.

Size isnt important really...both walls are needed....both will be built. Its only 4 times the legnth anyway...america probably has 4 times the wealth of the eu.

Racist yanks voted in trump because of the wall and racist remainers voted to stay in the eu cause of this turkish wall....

Livia 19-06-2018 10:34 AM

The Berlin Wall was torn down in the end. The same will happen with Trump's wall if it ever gets built, which I doubt because I would be surprised if he makes it to the end of his first term, let alone into a second term.

bots 19-06-2018 10:35 AM

The point I was making earlier is that Trump has decided to create a space force .... and he will do it, so given that mankind has been building walls for centuries, what on earth makes you think he wont build a wall? If he wants a wall, he will have one.

If he has time before he goes...

I am amused at his Space Force idea. Making the galaxy great again.
