...I have no idea Cherie, how I would vote in a 2nd referendum...to me, a second vote for anything would have to achieve something that the first vote didn’t....something the whole country agreed on in a way, I guess...?...but that isn’t going to happen no matter how many referendums were had...and referendums../..political vote and such the like are divisive by nature....they’re not designed for agreeing voices and agreeing political beliefs etc...anyways I just don’t see anything positive in having a second referendum...if the vote came out as Remain...?...the remain would still be an unknown territory the country were stepping into because of the original vote...what remain terms would the EU be looking for...the soft remain or the hard remain.....because essentially we’ve rejected the EU so there would be consequences to that, surely...even if our remain were accepted..and all of the negations and all of the time etc...while we the people all wait to see if it’s all going to be ok...just another time of uncertainty....

...if the second vote resulted in a majority Brexit again..?...then the time, energy, focusing away from the Brexit terms would just extend the periods of uncertainty even more and what does that achieve because we still wouldn’t be a nation in agreement..?..for me it’s more, let’s just do it, it’s been decided so let’s go...let’s get things over with, let’s step out there because until we do and until we know what Brexit means...the good, the bad and the ugly...then we just won’t know...

...(...I think I would exercise my vote with the freedom of not voting...)...I’d be going out...out for the day or polishing my nails or something...not out to the poll station....there are things that deeply worry me with some intolerances that some Brexit votes seemed to have brought to the surface...I blame Nigel Farage for that...:fan:...but now they’re out there, they’re not going to go away with second a remain vote...they’re still going to be there is the thing...

Indeed Ammi... Pandora's box is wedged open and the lid has been broken off. Another referendum / Staying in the EU isn't going to succeed in stuffing it all back in.

It wasn't that deep Ammi, it was just a straw poll to see how many would change their mind or vote this time round, personally I think time is a great healer and I think both sides are now just get on with it or stay in but just get it done

Nobody said having another ref would stuff it back in where on earth did you get that idea?

The indy ref was divisive in Scotland as well, and people got over it, time just moves on and people move on to worry about something else

the consensus among those wanting a second ref is that there is more information out there now and the practicalties of what people will lose are beginning to hit home, and also we are more aware of what we will gain, nobody is suggesting that the second ref would be any less divisive than the first one

According to the poll, more people wouldn't bother to vote than would vote.

You have nothing to complain about then.

That would undermine
the current Deal.
So no 2nd waste of our time.

I think a few people (me) are just waiting for someone to decipher the poll options before they vote

OK have edited this poll to make a bit more sense, sorry Cherie :p It was quite confusing tbh, would have thought yes was remain

Same as I did last time, as I imagine most would, effectively making a second referendum a gigantic waste of time.

but what about all these people who apparently didn't vote, the official polls are the same so it makes liars out of people saying they don't want Brexit

Yeah a lot seemingly didn't vote as they either couldn't be arsed or thought their vote wouldn't make a difference anyway, with how close it was..I think every vote counts tbh

well that was the spin that went out, and that it was all old people voted for Brexit and they would be dead etc, two years later alot of them will be dead and many will have turned 18 so how come the official polls says pretty much no change...makes no sense at all

Tom4784 17-07-2018 02:35 PM

Tbh though, I've seen a lot of leavers pulling for another referendum since they don't want a soft brexit. It's not all 'GRRR EVIL REMAINERS NOT AGREEING WITH DEMOCRACY!'.

Remember that the demand for this new referendum largely came about after news of a likely soft brexit came out.

That is neither here nor there though, the official polls show that the original decision to leave would more or less stand as people haven't changed their stance since the last ref, so if they are to be believed young voters are not changing the outcome.

It was quite clear there was a large age divide on it. I did find the 'they will be dead soon, they shouldn't have a vote' stuff pretty vile though. It really depends on how the official polls are worded. And WHERE they are getting done too.

I guess its possible that those who were a couple of years too young to vote would have actually voted leave...but from the stats we have, this would be very very unusual given the sliding scale of age/voting intention.

I think even with another vote, it would be a case of the young mainly do not vote, tbh. Voting has pretty much always been an older person thing, I say while I voted as soon as I was able to and was rather excited about being adult enough to do so

No 2nd Vote will happen
you are Deluded to think it would?

Labour
and UKIP votes have gone up in a new Poll.
Of course UKIP still have no MP's, at this time.
As the 2017 Election was Get out of the Custom Union & the Single market
so the PM May with the DUP got power. (Hung Parliament for a Day)
So at that time UKIP were not needed etc.

So Conservatives
are not permitting any 2nd vote.
All they can do is a General Election
(which is another 2nd Referendum within it )

No one is willing to take the PM's place , yet.
