no I provided evidence via the link and backed it up with a personal story. If you click the link it explains how people can become irrational and angry due to dementia.

armand.kay 24-10-2018 10:00 AM

Recently widowed elderly black woman is verbally and physically attacked by a racist: only 2 people stand up for her and the cabin crew panders to the attacker... well then... I wish I could say I'm shocked but I'm really not.

LukeB 24-10-2018 10:01 AM

This man is awful and a twat and ryanair handled this badly by moving her instead of him or not throwing him off the plane...other people have been chucked off the plane for arguing but not him? Wouldn’t surprise me if ryanair charged her for moving seats.

the staff did not hear any racism so could not do that. The incident is not with Essex police so justice will now occur

That isn't evidence that this man has dementia, you literally diagnosed him yourself to excuse his racism

So you actively sought out a reason to excuse a racist attack on an elderly woman? Bravo

This! I honestly couldn't care less about this old man and his mental state. I'm more concerned with how the elderly woman is doing from what I've seen she was already not in a great place and was probably very shaken up by what happened.

armand.kay 24-10-2018 10:23 AM

Also people bending over backwards to explain his behaviour have you considered that there are still racist people in Britain? You know like black people have been saying for a while now.

Liam- 24-10-2018 10:24 AM

The victim was on This Morning either yesterday or Monday if anyone’s interested, she’s such a tiny, frail woman, how anyone could even think about defending that disgusting attack on her is beyond me

Exactly. And tbh this is my last post on this thread, I'm not entertaining anymore of the justifying the old racist. Hope the lady is OK after such a horrible experience

I don't think he deserves sympathy for his actions - but there's no point in wasting hours of everyone's time because an old git said some words.

I know there are racist people in this country. My Grandmother, who is in her 90s, is ready to move to Israel if Jeremy Corbyn gets elected because he will lead us to socially acceptable, state-sponsored antisemitism and she's already lived through that once. A muslim spat in my face on the Tube because I was wearing a Star of David. No one intervened on my behalf. I took a picture as the angry muslim ranted at me and handed it to the Transport Police. They couldn't have been less interested.

It's not only black people who are subjected to this kind of sh1t, but really, you have to keep some perspective. No one seems willing to think the old nutter on the aeroplane is anything other than a vile racist, when he probably just hates everyone.

aw sorry to hear all of that Livia, it shows exactly what a tough world we live in as of today

Livia 24-10-2018 10:59 AM

It's fine Nicky, the world a tough place, lots of people are made to suffer by people who are frankly inferior, not thorough thinkers. If every little incident gets blown out of all proportion the more serious stories get lost in the outrage.

So everytime someone angrily harasses someone in public, we must give them the benefit of the doubt it might be dementia?

He can be both.

The fact he's angry at the whole world doesn't make an iota of difference as this specific incident was his abuse of that woman.

For someone who’s always looking for proof of racism to the victim you don’t half like fabricating silly stories to excuse the abuser do you.

arista 24-10-2018 05:50 PM

[A man who hurled racist abuse at an elderly black woman on a Ryanair flight has been named as David Mesher.
The accused, who lives in a sheltered retirement housing block in Birmingham, declined to comment to reporters outside his home.]

You obviously have no experience of old people and dementia

I understand that

There is so much more than that to life

very sorry to hear that and tbh thats open my eyes because I didn't think Jewish people still went through stuff like that. I only mentioned black people because theres so many cases of black people reporting getting racially abused in public and people are telling them that they're either lying or exaggerating the incident and seeing racism where it's not there. Also I hope you don't think my post was directed just at you...

I'm sure that old guy probably hate a lot of different types of people and is probably every phonic you can imagine... however in this instance he attacked this woman because of her race and the staff seemed to care more about keeping him happy than protecting the woman... I just find getting into the hypothetical mental issues this man may have to be an attempt to shift responsibly from him and takes the victimhood from the woman making the incident seem like 'just one of those things'.... to me its kind of like when the media try to get into the tough upbringing and school life of someone who's just committed something terrible like a terrorist attack or a school shooting...
