Tbh, I don't think this woman would be any harm to your pet. When in work mode I'm sure she doesn't relish killing dogs and cats and does her utmost to help her animals in work.

However, you absolutely should change vets on mere principal. Fox hunting is despicable and you don't want to in anyway be supporting this woman to do it by paying good money for her services, knowing what disgusting activities she spends her money on.

joeysteele 06-01-2019 10:14 PM

I wouldn't knowingly want anything to do with anyone supporting fox hunting.
If I knew someone was, they'd be out with me.
So no, you are not being unreasonable at all and for me, that Vet is in the wrong job completely.

SherzyK 06-01-2019 10:17 PM

And the fact that she takes so much pleasure and gloats about it on Facebook should be enough reason why you should change vets. So no, you’re not being unreasonable. She needs to be sacked

And your second point here brings me back to my first point in this thread. The selfishness of putting one's ideology before the health of the dog in question.

That point is meaningless, she is not the last vet on earth.

Amy Jade 06-01-2019 10:20 PM

My dog isn't going to be ill if I postpone her flea treatment Alf

It's a flea treatment not a major operation :skull:

You must have been happy with how the vets treated your dog before you found out she likes to hunt foxes.

I would image most vets see foxes as vermin and not as a pet, at the end of the day it’s your dog so you should decide where you take, but just because someone does or don’t hunt foxes it don’t make them a good or bad vet.

But we know from Amy that she is a good vet from previous experience. We know nothing of the calibre of a new vet.

The new vet could be hooked on ketamine

I'm sure Amy herself will. Unless, of course, you're questioning the calibre of Amy as a dog owner. :nono:

It's your dog and your choice and your money so no

You missing the point.
A cull of vermin done in quick and humane way is very different from hunting an animal down and killing it for sporting pleasure.
Vets need to kill animals sometimes. But not for kicks  That's sick

You're far from unreasonable, if a vet values the lives of foxes so little I can only worry as to what their mindset in work is like

‘Hi we’re just here bc little pudsey has a thorn stuck in his pawsie wawsie’

Barry. 06-01-2019 11:58 PM

No you are not.

It's an odd thing to do as a Vet. Most people like to think of their pets Vet to be animal lovers so it's a strange choice for her to publicise something like her enjoyment of Fox hunting, it's kind of a silly business decision on her part, if nothing else.

Would you take your kids to Harold Shippmans surgery if he was still alive and practising in your area?

yes i wondered if your counter argument would be a fictitious one in the extreme

Her private life and activities are none of your business

get over yourself

Amy is a paying customer, if she doesn't want to use that vet for any reason at all, that's 100% her choice.

I would also change vets if I found out my vet was involved in Fox hunting

I agree it seems strange and it's like the 2 things don't go together, however does that also mean people will kick up a fuss if they find out their vet is a meat eater ?? , How far do we go with principles? .

Yeah, I changed Vets a few years ago for that reason, not because the Vet was Fox hunting, he just didn't have a good bed side manner, I feel like maybe he spent alot of his time with "working" or farm animals so viewed them as commodities rather than peoples pets or companions. The vets I changed to are so lovely, when I had to have my dog put down a few years ago I was a mess, they sent me a card afterwards and all.

Well meat eating is the "norm" in our society so I would say no. Hopefully sometime in the future it won't be the norm though :p

Also, I would say that eating meat is a bit different than spending you leisure time hunting down and killing an animal for the lols
