Either way IF Sanders won the nomination of course I'm gonna vote for him against fat orange cheeto.

That's exactly what people are saying, are you blind?

Discounting candidates for being "pale, male and stale" is NOT supporting "the best candidate who can oust Trump".

But of course you can realise that that's not the whole reason why anyone would not support Bernie Sanders? Maybe Underscore was making a point but I don't think it's a stretch to realise that it was a part of a reason and not a whole one.

Underscore 19-02-2019 04:40 PM

I'm not gonna be ecstatic tho

Oliver_W 19-02-2019 04:41 PM

What ever happened to Nikki Haley, aka the obvious voice for first female president?

Yup, he can't worry about an election he won't win when Robert Mueller's throwing all his friends in jail and is looking at him next.

At the end of the day, the presidency isn’t about representation, it’s supposed to be about what’s best for the country and right now, what’s better for the world, so if an old white man is what the best option is, then so be it.

Crimson Dynamo 19-02-2019 04:45 PM

His 70% taxes are really gonna play well with the electorate

:skull:

Crimson Dynamo 19-02-2019 04:46 PM

Mark my words, come back here in 2020 when Sanders loses and Trump is president again.

Liam- 19-02-2019 04:50 PM

Trump will beat anyone he’s up against lbr

Liam- 19-02-2019 04:50 PM

The electorate system works to his advantage

Tom4784 19-02-2019 04:54 PM

No, I think if Trump even makes it to the election, he'll have a hard time against anyone who isn't a complete idiot or **** up.

Trump used the corruption allegations and the russian email leaks to his advantage to cast doubt on Hillary and bring over a lot of moderate voters to his side but the weapons he used last time will be used against him and he won't be able to do his usual tricks to win over the moderates. His base will always vote for him but that's not enough to win an election especially considering that the polls show that he has lost a lot of support and that the moderates and middle ground voters that came out for him last time probably won't this time.

Wizard. 19-02-2019 04:54 PM

But tell me would moderate voters vote for Bernie or would a centrist have a better shot?

It's a ridiculous thing to count someone out, not because of their beliefs but because of their attributes. If Underscore knew what he was talking about, he'd realise that Bernie's stances and views would likely match up to his own. Bernie became a favourite of younger voters for a reason but Underscore seemingly refuses to acknowledge that because of Bernie's race, age and gender.

It's pretty damn clear cut and indicative of why I consider myself more centre than left leaning these days. Both the right and left are becoming extreme reflections of each other.

He didn't 'discount' them, he just expressed preference, that the President is of more varied characteristics.

I don't agree with the logic, but it's not 'racist'.

Brother Leon 19-02-2019 04:57 PM

By far the best candidate for America and the rest of the world.

Too little too late though. He should have been the nominee last time. He would have beat Trump.

Oliver_W 19-02-2019 04:58 PM

tbh I also think it's Trump's to lose right now - his SOTU speech was pretty good, and garnered a good response. The democrats also need to work on their image - when Alexandria Occasional Cortex appears in the media, it's just embarrassing; she is their version of Dianne Abbott.
