It's almost like virtue signalling...

Well said.

like so many recent advertising campaigns, it's got people talking about it and in the public eye. That's all a seller ever wants, and this idiot has played right in to their hands

I think if they're charging £3 for this sandwich they could give something? 10p? 20p? And in the scheme of M&S profits, I'm not sure £10,000 and 1000 Euro is enough if they're using this promotion over the whole summer, which I understand they are.

I suppose something is better than nothing... but it still smacks of a bit of a cynical marketing exercise to me.

Time to start ignoring his tantrums and outbursts, I reckon.

I agree to the extent that I think the figures are surely wrong?? My shop (solo!) could make a one off £10k donation without it being a significant profit loss and that's WITHOUT the associated tax breaks . The entire M&S chain donated £10k? :umm2:

And 1000 euros is just a joke. Pocket change.

Honestly, we had a bucket go round our office for Children in Need last year and raised £500+ It really is a cheap marketing trick for M&S, they could have given SO much more.

"Marks and Spencer has launched an LGBT+ sandwich to celebrate Pride and raise money for charity, but it has been met with mixed reactions.

The sandwich, which is available to buy in the UK and Ireland, is filled with lettuce, guacamole, bacon and tomato – to fulfil the LGBT acronym – and comes in rainbow-coloured packaging.

The supermarket released the sandwich to raise money for the Albert Kennedy Trust (AKT) – a charity dedicated to helping homeless LGBT+ youth – and BeLong to Youth Services – an organisation supporting LGBT+ young people in Ireland.

The retailer says it has donated £10,000 to the AKT and will be making a further £1,000 donation to BeLong to Youth Services."

I never used to like Piers Morgan , but when he did BGT I warmed to him somewhat , and I do think he has saved GMB,I only watch to see him debating , sometimes I agree with him , sometimes I don't but ,I have to say I quite like the bloke now he makes me laugh and there is always some truth in what he says imo. so I agree LT ,I liked him as a judge.

As a part of the LGBT, I appreciate the thought. I was only born on the first day of the 90's but things have come so far in such a relatively short time. Such acceptance was a pipedream when I was growing up.

I'm just happy that pride is a thing and is so widespread now, sure, bigger donations to charity could be a thing but the power of representation can do wonders. It's not so much about how much money M&S is making from it for me, I'm just happy that such a campaign even exists.

Given that a lot of straight people are complaining about the money aspect, I don't think it's something you can truly understand if you're straight. Representation at this point, is enough.

What truth? He just panders to what his audience wants to hear.
