2020s winning entry from the UK:

joeysteele 19-05-2019 06:54 PM

I'd hate the UK not to take part.
We'll be in nothing soon if we keep running off because we don't get what we want.

The Netherlands have had to wait 44 years to win it again.
They worked hard, put a lot of effort and thought in it and came up with success.

Honestly, Michael sang well but being honest, not as good as when he won selection as this years entrant.

Also, while I like the song, the UK performance was rather dull really.

It seems the UK has lost the knack of tapping into winning songs.
Michael didn't deserve last place but neither a top half place either on the night.
Alongside most of the other performances it just came across an average entry, not extra special.

Not many, however we got votes from Norway, Hungary, Belarus,Armenia, Georgia and Switzerland.
If we had a song that appealed stronger and got higher votes from those Countries then a few votes from others then we could find new success here.
The main thing is, we need to get a good act, a good song and get the song known around Europe before the contest too.
Which may bring in higher public votes too.

For a Nation renowned for pop music for decades, we seem to reserve a half hearted attempt year on year as to Eurovision.

Well said

I suggest either:
-We send in a song in another one of our recognised languages (i.e. Scottish or Welsh) in order to stand out as it would not be expected for a predominantly English speaking country to send something in another language.
-Or, just split the United Kingdom up in Eurovision altogether, and instead have England, Scotland and Wales participate separately. Wales participated in The Junior Eurovision Song Contest last year and the Eurovision Choir Contest in 2017 and is returning to participate in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest this year, with Scotland set to be participating in the Eurovision Choir Contest this year.

I mean this isn't a great start, is it?

Nicky91 20-06-2019 10:58 AM

BBC to allow artists to have more artistic freedom challenge

that would be a good first step at doing better at eurovision

Another picture was taken and every single person there is pointing at Holly Tandy. It’s a good chance she could of been internally selected

Firewire 21-06-2019 02:15 PM

I think Holly would be a fine candidate, but the song needs to be excellent.

Not ANOTHER song writing camp?? What's not clicking?

There was another post about an ‘amazing ballad’ well.....it’s over

sleleen 21-06-2019 02:23 PM

Just send more songs for the NF around the same style as Asanda ‘Legends’. Honestly one of the best songs in eurovision history

reece(: 21-06-2019 02:25 PM

No one wants ballads or writing camps

We finna place last again because these fools won't adapt, send Fleur or someone semi-relevant

Still fuming it didn't get chosen </3

Who cares if her vocals were a tad shaky, they had months to improve them!

It seems so random though, like she didn't even make the Top 3 of this years selection so why would she get such special treatment this year

Maybe it'll be like Saara where she has multiple songs and we get to pick the best one for her

Literally, there was like 2 months to go. But the voters had no head and voted for the generic sing along song. I do think that had Crazy or Legends been swapped with Surie’s running order than the result would be a lot different

Headie 21-06-2019 03:06 PM

BBC should bring back Fame Academy and use that as the UK selection process

sleleen 21-06-2019 07:46 PM

That’s the photo, I don’t know why else they would be pointing at her

No chance she was probaly sampling a song or 2

sleleen 21-06-2019 07:48 PM

send ANISA with a legends-esque bop!

or even better ask Asanda to do it for them! Although I don’t think YD follows the format of most other countries where returning artists are a thing

sleleen 21-06-2019 07:53 PM

Ask Pixie, Alexandra or Fleur to do it. We’re rumoured before for 12, 15 and 17 so there must be some backing to it. Or Louisa I’m sure would as well. Top 10 on lock

Denver 21-06-2019 07:54 PM

The way to a top 10 is a good looking boyband who can sing

Liam- 21-06-2019 07:55 PM

Alexandra going with a Broken Heels-esque banger would be an instant classic
