Yep, the hashtag had quite a few people complaining about it

Well I bloody loved it and want a new series now 100%. I wasn't too bothered beforehand about watching it, could give or take but it took me right back, was like visiting old friends you hadn't seen for a while.

Pete and Dawn though >>> :joker:

The f word can mean a lot of things and doesn’t relate to gays in the context of the song.

Its old irish slang for a lazy person

****** = bundle of sticks
Bundle of sticks = lazy person
Lazy person = ******

Bryn sang the female part. So Nessa said that part.

Twitter is the most vile part of human fake outrage. It's a joke

Crimson Dynamo 26-12-2019 05:59 PM

Just finished watching it again. Loved it, brilliant and did not let fans down. Can't believe that Neil the baby is the original baby

It's a discussion on the inclusion of that song in the context of the episode in the first place. They did NOT need to use that song, but they chose it on purpose. That's what has pissed people off.

That's the kind of song those characters would choose to sing, it's fitting  They don't "need" to make the show at all, and people don't "need" to choose to get offended over nothing:)

I don’t understand why people think they can dictate what people can and cannot get offended over? Like i personally couldn’t give a **** but i wouldn’t preach to others telling them how they should feel about it

If people want to spend their time upset about a simple word, that's their funeral innit  I just think it must be tiring to have that mindset, and would be easier all round if people took themselves life less seriously :)

Saph 26-12-2019 07:14 PM

screaming at all the people defending it online saying the song needs to stay on air to give royalties to kirsty maccolls kids jhjdhghskjgkghskgh as if they give a crap about her kids any other time

Crimson Dynamo 26-12-2019 07:17 PM

I love how James and Ruth did it to deliberately troll young twitter warriors and the literally done them up like Kippers

:laugh2:

Oliver_W 26-12-2019 07:19 PM

lol the song doesn't "need" to do anything, it's up to individual DJs and/or stations to play it. It should stay on the air because it's great, but McColl died in like 2000 so they're probably nearly 20 at least, it's not like they're in primary school and (their carers/) need to be supported.

It’s hardly a simple word though is it...

Twosugars 26-12-2019 07:24 PM

The word is cute and should be reclaimed

Hope they do a series now or at least another special

Liam- 26-12-2019 07:25 PM

I thought the scene was the perfect representation of the generations, the older (probably gay) Bryn having no issues with singing it cause it was never a problem and the younger folk looking shocked when he sung it without hesitation, I’m in the firm camp of words not being offensive, context and meaning are what causes offence, imho and all that obvs

Twosugars 26-12-2019 07:28 PM

Fishing trip though...

Do they imply Bryn and Jason had sex or just cuddled?

I'd say the first but for Bryn even cuddles might be seen as a big no - no

Then feel free to flinch and die a little inside whenever you hear it, that's on you

It's a simple word, sure it's a slur, but take away its power by not caring :)

I wouldn't say "reclaim" it, because LGBT doesn't need cluttering up with any more letters, but just don't let it bother you.

They cuddled naked when they lost the heat to keep their bodies warm. Then maybe one or both got an inappropriate erection?

That's what I took from the hints. Like what happened on The Big Bang Theory season 3 when Sheldon and the others went to the Arctic.

You literally aren't getting the point.

I think you are the most closed-minded person I have seen on this forum in the year I have been here, bar none.

For someone who claims to not care and be ~so over~ people getting offended, ya sure seem to have quite an aggressive tone to your posts which paints you as nothing short of hateful and homophobic!

I would encourage you to have this same energy in a real life debate over the N word with a black person. See how that goes for you.

Ok, I get it. Wasn't sure but it makes sense now.

I didnt mean adding letters, just take the ownership of the word and don't let it bother
