If he was a burglar in the area, poor Maddy was probably in the wrong place and the wrong time, she might have been awake and it was opportunist...

awful that it has taken 13 years to find this guy given he has so many previous convictions

Lets hope it is him and that he confesses so we can finally put an end to it

arista 04-06-2020 11:43 AM

Germany is saying she was murdered.
So its down to finding her body

Samm 04-06-2020 11:46 AM

Serious neglect sure for the parents blame. As for them murdering her I struggle to believe why would they go to this effort for over ten years to still push for an investigation.

Germany thinks the German Sex offender
had sex with the child
then murdered her.

We actually went to Portugal when my kids were 4 and 2... The furthest we went was lying out on the balcony of the villa at night looking at the stars when they were asleep in the next room. Granted, being in The Algarve with two small kids, we did have the Maddie cautionary tale on our minds, but I don't know any parent who would actually go out for dinner at any distance and leave their kids alone. As is frequently pointed out - so many things could happen. What if there was a fire? Etc.

Its no different to a parent in the UK leaving their kids at home and going to the pub at the end of the street. No one would try to justify that.

I’m not sure what time of the year she went missing but It’s scary to think that we were on holiday in Lagos with our little kids that summer with that guy seemingly living (and preying ) in the area .

Looks like we may be coming to a conclusion and the hideous speculation about the poor family will draw to a thankful close....

I guess it would depend on what happened to her if I would hold out hope she was alive. If, at the age of 4, she was sold into a paedophile sex ring, as a parent I think I would prefer to think she had not survived rather than to think she had been used and suffered in that way.

If she has survived and had been trafficked to good people who loved her and cared for her, that would be a different story.

Not a hope, it was an opportunist crime during a routine burglary sadly it seems, she was unlucky that the burglar was also a paedophile

I don't know. As absolutely horrendous as it is - there are many survivors of people trafficking and they can (with a lot of help) recover and live full lives. They're never going to be the same person they would have been, but it doesn't mean they can't live a happy and fulfilling life. Obviously anyone would rather believe that she died that night than that she was taken for a period of time and STILL died later, but if they have genuine hope that she could still bo out there I understand clinging to it.

That said, I do have to add that I personally believe that the McCanns know for a fact she died there in Praia Da Luze. I'd be very, very surprised if this latest development comes to anything.

I would LOVE to see the McCann's lawyers prosecuting the trolls. Could happen... fingers crossed.

I don't think it's trolling to point out that most parents wouldn't leave their children alone in an appartment like that, nor to say that it should be flat out illegal to do so at such a young age.

Frankly Livia if you were to tell me that you would even consider, for a second, leaving your own kids alone like they did... I'd have to assume you were lying.

The first thought was someone voicing an opinion on an Internet forum? I thought the whole idea of free speech was people can say what they like, there have been no threats just speculation and opinion.

What grounds would a lawyer have to prosecute anyone here? As TS said the thought of leaving children unattended is abhorrent for most.

I’m clutching onto your final paragraph given he apparently made and took a batch of phone calls just an hour or so prior to her disappearance - (Sky News)

James and Josy are trying to negotiate a settlement that will allow them to keep the site open. The McCanns want Annie permabanned for her anti-McCann agenda, but J&J have offered them LT and I instead. Bit of a standoff at the moment.
