I think it generally does, especially when it's a new actor, it can be hard for them to avoid being associated with that role forever. It's why a few things have made the very conscious choice of using very established and recognisable actors to play these difficult roles e.g. Patrick Swayze in Donnie Darko, or Bill Pullman as the paedophile/child killer in Torchwood: Miracle Day. Actors like that are at no risk of being mistaken as being "like their character" or typecast because of it, but "new faces" in soaps definitely can be.

On the flipside of that of course, using well known actors can lessen the impact of the role because its much harder to get emotionally involved in a storyline with a detestable/abusive character if you have a tonne of memories of the actor being a "good guy" in other roles... It takes a very good actor to make you hate or fear their character if they're an established and likeable actor.

......ughh, it really happened, it wasn’t a dream...so sad and so wrong...

So Stacey is the thief which means her exit storyline is going back to prison

Amy Jade 21-09-2020 09:16 PM

bye

I like stacey but stealing off ruby was shady ****

Jigs 21-09-2020 09:19 PM

Stacey stealing the show

Stacey scenes were soapy fun.

The aftermath of Chantelle's death. :umm2: This show is just terrible. Why do they ALWAYS skip over actual material? We get ****ing months of endless repetitive mundane drivel with underwater sound effects and then when we reach big moments in storylines they time skip and completely ignore most of what makes the aftermath interesting.

This show is piss poor.

Stacey going camp

...yeah, I agree with all of this...I don’t think that it’s really poor because I still dip in to watch it but...

...Chantelle’s death and the lead up to it were well done, I thought...Friday’s episode last week, was mesmerising and harrowing...but last night in the aftermath, it felt really rushed and what the heck, type thing...she deserved and deserves more in the victim that she was...?...we saw EE at its best in her last scenes and now it’s appearing that we’re seeing it more at its bungled and rushed worst.....

...I love Ruby, she’s a gorgeous gal in every way......but Stacey taking her money was a magical moment.../...utter bliss as Arista would say...Good old soap ‘fun’...because rather than the angst, she’s just off on a spending spree like a footballer’s wife../type thing...revenge is best served on a credit card...

Bad Girls star Simone Lahbib (Helen Stewart) has signed up as the mystery character linked to the Carters, she stared with 3 of the Carter family in Bad Girls

Caught up today and Chantelle’s final episode was absolutely harrowing. At first I didn’t realise she’d landed on a knife and thought she’d just been pierced by the dishwasher plastic holder lol.

Technically only 2. She was never in the show at the same time as Kellie Bright. :hee:

Kush is also leaving

Denver 26-09-2020 08:38 PM

Sounds like he was axed

Denver 26-09-2020 08:45 PM

Its seems like they are gonna start a mass cull and I'm not sure whether it's to do with finances or if they are planning on bringing in new characters

There’s far too many new characters. They need to keep hold of characters/bring back some old faces.

The show is fast becoming unrecognisable. It doesn’t help that it seems the people in charge have never seen EastEnders before.

I'm loving season two, I think it's brilliant!
And I'm also enjoying the 2008 iPlayer episodes.
Archie Mitchell has just showed up.
