Just a reminder that you're more angry about £6 then millions of taxpayers' money being given away to Tory donors.

Ah, I forgot, crisps and sweets aren't food... Thank you, for reminding us of that.

I'm surprised some people are dismissing this so lightly. I think it'd be different if it was a relative of theirs that had just died and then been robbed by someone who was trusted to care for them. The amount doesn't matter.

To be honest I don't really buy the excuse that she thought it was hers... I think she just thought no one would ever notice. However it is feasible that she found the card and didn't know who it belonged to (let alone that they had just died). Still not OK obviously... there's a reputational issue here. It would actually be more clear cut if she WAS a nurse as it would be an NMC/Registration issue and there would definitely be an investigation at that level... with her being staff without a formal registration it's more just down to the employer, and I guess the police, although I doubt the police are massively interested over £6.

In terms of "if she had been a nurse"... basically if it was found that she used a stolen card knowingly, in the hospital, while on shift, I think it's pretty much certain that she would lose her registration and no longer be able to work as a nurse.

But again, NMC stuff is different from "usual employment" stuff and they have strict rules about professional standards etc.

user104658 11-06-2021 10:07 AM

...although on top of that, if a staff member when I worked retail had been caught using a customer's card that had been found... whether that customer was alive or dead... they would almost certainly have been fired for gross misconduct.

bots 11-06-2021 10:29 AM

i think anyone who has had a relative in hospital that required critical care would be asking serious questions. Those who have relatives in critical care now will likely have huge trust issues brought on by this, the amount of the theft is irrelevant

Yeah I’d rather have a few quid go in the pocket of a healthcare worker than the Tory goverment

I agree with this.

The amount doesn't matter at all.
Furthermore is this the first time too.

rusticgal 11-06-2021 10:44 AM

Well these responses are quite revealing.....how anyone can defend it or make light of it is extremely worrying.

I doubt it, probably done it before.

I don't get how you could though.

The Police were interested considering its been through the court:
"She admitted theft and fraud by false representation, and was given two, five-month jail terms to run concurrently, suspended for 18 months."

Imagine dragging Bots' lifeless corpse to the Tesco self-checkout only to discover that his Apple Pay watch needs a damned pulse to activate, and having to do CPR just to pay for your meal deal. Grim.
