She can't even access her own fortune to pay for a decent lawyer, it's a disgusting situation. Where are her celebrity friends, they need to get her a new lawyer, can she appeal this?

Niamh. 01-07-2021 10:04 AM

I'm actually so upset for her though. I mean why can't she at least have a choice in who will look after her estate if they think she still needs that help? It's hers and she doesn't want her dad having control over it. It feels like such a massive violation

Looking at the whole article it's actually a little complicated, legally. They can't remove the conservatorship entirely because she hasn't made that request... that option isn't on the table at all... so they've ruled that it should continue as it is rather than her father being removed and it continuing under just the law firm, but that DOESN'T actually mean they wouldn't rule to end the conservatorship if that was requested... but it would have to be filed as a request to end it, not alter it .

The article also suggests that he hasn't taken an active role in the conservatorship "due to poor health" since 2019 and has no direct contact with her... but that's coming from him/his lawyers so who knows.

It COULD explain, I suppose, why it seemed to be a complete information black-out for so many years but has become much more public recently... indeed probably since around 2019.

It's EXTREMELY high profile now so I would imagine plenty of law firms would take it on for publicity (if they think they have a good chance of winning), or at the very least on a "no win no fee" basis where she would pay them only if she got control of her estate back.

As above it doesn't seem to be a matter of appealing this decision (to remove her father but continue conservatorship), but rather launching a new request to have it removed entirely.

Yeah that's true enough. I hope she does challenge the Conservatorship

The verdict today has nothing to do with Britneys testimony from last week, she’s filed a legal petition to have the conservatorship terminated (which is what her testimony was for) earlier this week, which is still on going

Britney Spears: Financial firm asks to withdraw
from conservatorship

[A financial firm has asked to withdraw
as co-conservator of pop star Britney Spears' financial affairs,
citing her objections in court last week.

The Bessemer Trust are named as joint guardians
of her estate, along with her father Jamie Spears.
The star previously asked through a lawyer
to end her father's involvement but last
week gave explosive testimony against
the entire arrangement.

She described the conservatorship
as "abusive" and asked for her life back.]

She won't work for as long as her father is in charge.
