However, in Royal Protocol because they married Princes they became Princesses by marriage. They are Princess William and Princess Henry respectively in the way that Princess Michael of Kent is a Princess, by marriage.

The Queen chose to give them Duke and Duchess titles but they are still Princesses also.

That is why both Kate and Meghan used the occupation. "Princess of the United Kingdom" when registering the births of their children.
