Telling the difference between satire and actual bigotry isn't really all that difficult. I wonder, do those who seem not able to do it really not know the difference? Or are they simply pretending when it suits to do so?
Reminds me of the people who think something like South Park "is being racist" when Token is repeatedly shot by the police, or "is being antisemitic" when Cartman marches through the streets dressed as Hitler. i.e. completely missing the point. I'm not a huge Jimmy Carr fan - I think (like Frankie Boyle, actually) he leans too heavily into "shock value" in his comedy, but he is essentially a satirist. The likes of Royston Vasey and Jim Davidson are just ... not. Speaking of his real name... I have to imagine that the reason the creators of The League of Gentlemen (satirists) called their fictional town "Royston Vasey" flies completely over the heads of those people. |

And China is the nation which organisations (and especially Hollywood) feel the need to bend the knee to in order to get money. There aren't any Nazis any more (not counting the odd nazi cosplayer who gets radicalised online) but there are communists. |

I'm not a communist. but I have an understanding of what the discussion is, at least. If you don't know what ideologies are, then perhaps you shouldn't be making things up. |

At the Charlottesville rally, they were shouting "blood and soil" and "Jews will not replace us." Both of those were Nazi slogans - just to give you an example. |

So you're back to the distinction that a political ideology only exists if it's in government, which is plainly stupid, especially in the US which has the links between the confederacy (the nazi's of their day) and nazism/facism, and there are plenty of republican politicians that still support the confederacy. Stephen Miller, who worked on Trumps immigration/border policies is a fairly open white nationalist. You can look at Hungary, where anti-Semitism was used in his campaign for his far right government. We have an encroaching rw authoritarian government over here, banning protests and about to purge the wrong kind of voters from the list. The list goes on. But regardless, back to the question of, does a political ideology only exist if it's in government? |
Oh is Oliver still in the mindset of "Oh, if I can't see something from my bedroom window it means it doesn't exist"?

Tbh I'm not big on censorship anyway, the only time I've been hesitant is with Love Island due to the suicides after being on the Show, but even then I can't actually bring myself to campaign for it to happen, and get a Show banned that millions of other people enjoy. Ironically the Japanese Anime community is having it currently too where certain groups are trying to get the second season of Demon Slayer censored because of certain content in the Manga coming up in the Anime. Now again I'm consistent about this, if you don't like Demon Slayer, Roy Chubby Brown nor do you like Love Island then don't watch them, it's not hard. I'm with you that it's typical behaviour nowadays to try and censor things, I honestly was expecting a Jim Davidson or Chuck Lorre types of Comedy where they're clearly being hateful towards certain groups of people. |
