It would be a small gesture at most. A new host could have a similar if not the same impact.

Has to be Maya Jama

A new host would have a completely incomparable type of impact compared to the original.

Love Island series 8 winner Paige Thorne obviously, since public drool all over her, over little miss perfect

She doesn’t speak clearly enough to be a host imho

No it wouldn’t. A new host would be just as impactful as brining back the original. Both would signal a change. In fact I think a new host would be more impactful in terms of signalling a new era for the show than bringing back someone we’ve all seen before. I argue that the ITV series should be about starting fresh and a new era rather than a restoration of what the show was on another network.

And that's the key - it needs to be someone who sits well with the 16-34 audience of today, not of 2010 or 2000. The host of Big Brother is traditionally someone who would be a peer of the housemates, not their mother or even grandmother.

I also don't think Davina or Emma have any desire to do it again - they've been there and done that. Davina will always be associated with the show at it's peak so why risk that legacy, and even though BB on C5 wasn't great it was Emma's era and shes now moved on.

Davina especially also saw so many other opportunites once BB ended and was offered shows she'd never have been offered when she did BB (indeed for the last 5 years or so other than Comic Relief she rarely did anything other than BB). It's been the same with Rylan too - as much as it's no secret he'd love to front Big Brother it was only when it came to an end his presenting career really took off.

I like Maya. She’s had a few “big” opportunities but still isn’t a top tier presenter. I feel like she’d be the prefect person to grow in to the role like others have. She also seems like the type to get invested in the show in the same way that Davina, Emma, and other great BB hosts have been over the years.

I agree. I guess Davina being called Big Mother only came after her children were practically born on the show. Emma to a lesser extent.

I’m still not sold on tipping Rylan. There’s just something about his quirky presenting style that I don’t think is suited to the main BB presenter.

I’ve watched some clips of her presenting Walk the Line and she doesn’t seem as polished as Davina or Emma… That said I see that as more of a strength rather than a weakness. Looking at a host like Arisa Cox from BBCAN part of why fans live her so much is that we’ve been able to watch her growth as a presenter over the last 10 years. I see Maya having that same potential.

Beastie 20-06-2022 09:45 PM

Mollie King

The Sun are reporting ITV2 are keen to sign up Mo Gilligan to present.

I like Mo , but not sure he's right for BB . And if a housemate is unpopular or unlikeable , what would that interview be like I wonder .

No. BB presenter is traditionally female. It’s one thing I don’t think needs to change.

Beastie 01-07-2022 08:12 PM

Mollie King or Vick Hope.

There have been 4 presenters of the main UK show and 2 have been male (Dermot did Celebrity Hijack).

But Davina and Emma did it better and for longer. Having motherly hosts who pop out babies between series seems to make a neat contrast with the authoritarian, generally passionless voice of Big Brother.

I really do think Maya Jama is the perfect choice itv2 would be silly not to choose her. That said we don't even know for definite this is even going ahead

Dermot got a pass as he was the obvious replacement at the time in the event Davina couldn’t or didn’t want to host.

Brian should never have been given the role to begin with.

When I say BB presenters are traditionally female I mean world wide. I do agree that a female is a nice contrast. If they do go for a male host this time around we need a female narrator and if there is a side show it needs a female presenter to balance things out.

Where there’s smoke there’s fire… Sadly her name hasn’t been brought up. The major contenders all seem to be male.
