Paul McCartney, Glastonbury review: One of the all-time great Pyramid Stage sets

5 stars

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/content/...eg?imwidth=800

Over three golden hours that featured a duet with John Lennon, McCartney
served up one absolutely storming classic after another

Sir Paul McCartney delivered one of the most thrilling, uplifting, banger-filled,
star-studded sets this 50-plus-year-old festival had ever seen, including a
duet with John Lennon from beyond the grave, more pyrotechnics than a
Hollywood disaster movie and a climactic guitar battle with not one but two
superstars of different American rock generations: Bruce Springsteen and
Dave Grohl.

that doesn't change the reality

The reality is that most people agree that that was an amazing moment of history last night.

An 80 year old musical God just had 150,000 people in the palm of his hand for almost 3 hours on a Saturday night and put on a show that people will remember forever.

I’m pleasantly surprised !!

Did he use autotune ??

I saw him LIVE on telly many years ago and his voice had gone then .. he just couldn’t hit the notes ..

I will try and watch it on catch-up soon

Me too, I didn't expect it to be as good as it was.

I feel sorry for those that left half way through and missed the second half of it.

The crowd singing the "na na na na Hey Jude" was something special.

The only negative for me was McCartney bringing on the Ukraine flag and waving it around, but you can't have everything and he is a celebrity so I expect things like that from them. I don't have to like the person to appreciate the art that they produce.

The Queen of Motown, 78 year old Diana Ross takes to the stage around about 4pm

Crimson Dynamo 26-06-2022 02:16 PM

Johnnie Walker just said he thought it was the best ever show at Glastonbury (Macca)

Alf 26-06-2022 04:25 PM

Just watched Diana Ross on Iplayer. The crowd had a great time. Real party atmosphere and she did all her classics. Another great set for the pensioners to add to McCartney last night and the Rolling Stones in Hyde Park this weekend. The oldies are putting the youngsters to shame. The 60s icons are rocking the Summer of 2022.

Shoe horning in black African heritage "presenters" into glasto by the woke white terrified to lose their jobs white 30 something BBC is so tiresome to watch

Lewismacfarlane 26-06-2022 09:50 PM

Mcfly still as popular as ever

Zizu 26-06-2022 10:28 PM

I’ve been working slowly through loads of downloaded Glasto sets over the weekend.I haven’t watch Sir Paul yet .

Best I’ve seen so far by a mile was YungBlud .

I liked Billie Eilish who’s set got better as it progressed .. I much preferred the last 2/3rds

Absolutely loved Diana Ross’ set this afternoon. Yeah her voice isn’t what it was by far but what amazing songs and an amazing (enormous) crowd. Loved it.

Kendrick Lamar was as dramatic as expected too tonight. The ending chant with the bleeding crown of thorns was just *goosebumps*.

Probably my favourite overall Glastonbury lineup for years. An amazing weekend!

Lorde was very good

He's had some great reviews,I suppose peoples taste are different depending on who they like,I heard the same about Diana Ross, I say fair play to them all,Paul was on stage for 3 hours plus, fabulous for his age as is Mick Jagger who is doing Hyde Park. Would love to have been there.

MTVN 27-06-2022 01:31 PM

It is impressive to play for 3 hours at his age but does anyone really want to see a set that long? There's a reason people normally don't. If I was watching that I'd be a little bored and exhausted of him by the end. Especially when if you're in a good spot to watch there's no real prospect of being able to leave for a drink or go to the toilet etc.
