the grand jury have already done their part, thats why trump has been indicted, but the actual trial, yet to proceed, doesn't have a jury

Madness.

He won't even be the candidate. Michelle "big Mike" Obama is my prediction to take on The Don.

Cherie 25-08-2023 05:25 PM

why did it take 4 years to get to this point? seems very underhand, not a Trump or a Biden supporter think American politics is even more of a mess than UK politics

bots 25-08-2023 05:36 PM

they can't get away from the fact he has millions of supporters. They should wait until after the next election. If he wins, he will stop all the court cases at the drop of a hat. If he is already found guilty, he will pardon himself. If he loses, then they can do all they want to him

The Slim Reaper 25-08-2023 05:39 PM

It's taken 2.5 years (January 2021), and they've had to investigate a complex web of people protecting each other.

The ironic thing, is that Bidens attorney general (Merrick Garland) was clearly going to let him get away with it, until congress did their own investigation and made recommendations to the justice department which they then acted on. It's crazy now that Maga are blaming Biden for going after a political rival when they didn't want to do it at all.

The Georgia one is a bit different, because nothing happened until their governor released the tape of trump begging for votes, and again, it's a complicated RICO web.

The documents case is different again, because they'd been working with him to get them back until he started lying and ignoring their requests, including subpoenas.

What? Winning the presidency should not be a monopoly get out of jail free, card. You think the 60-70% of the rest of the country would be happy that they caved in to the 30% of the country. That number will get even smaller once the evidence is provided in court.

bots 25-08-2023 05:46 PM

it shouldn't be a get out of jail free card, but it is. That is the factual reality at the moment.

His support won't go down from here to the election that's also a fact.

We are perfectly entitled to think it's ludicrous from this side of the pond, because it is, but it doesn't change the realities of the state of play in the usa

THe document case is a slam dunk. I do not see what defence he can use. He took the document, he's on tape talking about how he cant declassfiy them now he's out of office and he's said to Hannity that he had the right to take them. He didnt and he's gonna be convicted

THe Georiga case is too complicated to summarise as there are a total of 19 defendents including Trump. The crimes are sprawling, long reaching and their prosecuation involves if Trumps speech was a direct order to throw the election. I'd say its gonna be hard to prove.

It was fasacinating to see 6 of the 8 candidates at the debate put their hand up to say theyd support him if he got the nomination. Sad thing is he wont win the general. I dont think he has much chance.

Let the circus begin.

His poll numbers went down when the congressional hearings were being held, and the court cases will have solid evidence, including those that have turned on him to save themselves. It's not even remotely approaching a fact that his support won't go down.

The only reason he’s running is that he hopes he can kick the can down the road and extend the time he has before he goes to prison, either way, he’s gonna be locked up because he has no chance of winning the election

Its gonna be hilarious if he's convicted before the election. First question in any debate will be - What are the release terms of your bail, Mr President.?

Beso 25-08-2023 06:45 PM

You can run for president from prison in america
