Author Salman Rushdie, who suffered years of death threats after writing The Satanic Verses, has been attacked on stage in New York state.

The former Booker Prize winner was speaking at an event of the Chautauqua Institution at the time.

Witnesses say they saw a man run on stage and either punch or stab Mr Rushdie.

A video posted online shows attendees rushing onto the stage immediately following the incident.

Given the attack was witnessed by so many people .. how on Earth is the attacker allowed to plead ‘ not guilty’ ?!?!

[JK Rowling working with police over death threat
after voicing support for Salman Rushdie
The author tweets her thanks to fans, saying:
"To all sending supportive messages: thank you.
Police are involved (were already involved on other threats)."]

[Her address was made public by activists
after she "spoke up for women's sex-based rights",
she revealed last November.
At the same time, she said she
had "received so many death threats
I could paper the house with them".

Warner Bros recently defended the author,

An example from Edinburgh that so called Freedom of speech is curtailed

An Edinburgh Festival show by controversial comedian Jerry Sadowitz has been cancelled by venue bosses.

The comic and magician had been due to play two nights at The Pleasance at Edinburgh International Conference Centre on Friday and Saturday.

The Pleasance said the second night would not go ahead as his material "does not align with our values".

Sadowitz, 61, an American-born Scot, is known for aggressive stand-up performances.

He said on Twitter: "Did a show last night, 75 mins, thought it went well. Didn't see any walkouts.

"Today I'm told my show's been cancelled. Great stuff. I'm truly sorry for everyone who travelled to see the show tonight."

Good news

Salman is now talking
and off his ventilator.
Ref: SkyNewsHD

He needs to go Live on TV news Media
to piss off all those Evil Muslims

Nicky91 14-08-2022 06:58 AM

sorry but i don't feel bad for him

he had this coming for him

same many years ago with Theo van Gogh murder, if you offend someone doesn't matter what race, religion they're from, you can always expect certain people wanting to go attacking and attempting to murder you

good that he is off his ventilator, but he really needs to go rethink about some of the vile insulting things in his books, and possibly also not showing up in person anymore at lectures, but via zoom broadcast from a secure and classified location

bots 14-08-2022 07:23 AM

he didn't have it coming to him Nicky, an outrageous and singularly stupid thing to say

that's why i said sorry in the beginning of my post, i knew it would be a controversial thing to say

also i am not ''cancel culture'' or anything, but this man is an essayist, whom unlike comedians, should always be taken serious

so if he writes insulting crap in his books towards muslims, well yeah you got some people whom are so offended by it that they feel the needs to attack him whenever they get the opportunity to

Oliver_W 14-08-2022 07:34 AM

Okay Nicky, what has he said that's insulting? Specifically?

More specifically?

And that term is a misnomer, as it suggests that a fear of islam is irrational. *waves hand vaguely at ... the world*

I’d let the victims decide on the sentence :)
