remember when they were going to move to hammersmith (maybe for BB9) and it was also by a river/canal and they said housemates would arrive by boat.

Good grief it just looks like a miniature set... maybe even a toy house you'd get from Toys"R"Us. The fact the garden is just mere feet away from the set is just strange. They're going to have to blast crowd noise into the house on eviction nights. If the show becomes popular again they're going to have to move to a bigger location. This looks like part of a wendy house. I'm surprised the outdoor set isn't placed on the other side of the stage and just utilise this carpark for a larger garden.

I'm struggling to see how access to the garden is provided. I see two elephant doors (what they call the big load in/out doors on soundstages) but neither seem to provide access. Do the HM's enter the garden through an emergency exit door?

The garden doesn't leave much room in the way for tasks. There's definitely got to be secret rooms/tasks rooms they're adding onto the soundstage set.

BBDodge 15-09-2023 06:53 AM

The sound stage is sound-proofed. They won't hear anything from outside.

That gap between the "elephant door" and the garden/eviction stage will presumably be covered over once the carpenters get busy there.

The garden looks smaller because the Iris stage is way bigger than the old Big Brother houses at Bow and Elstree.

I really hope Launch Night gives us an expansive tour, the way Davina used to. Looking forward to seeing how it all connects, and from a ground level POV.

I wonder if the round "eye archway" door and the way into the garden will be connected to that singular giant soundstage via one "porch"? That way, they can seal off the soundstage for evictions (ie. no noise can "leak" through the garden as it'll be completely sealed off).

Hard to explain but my thinking is the soundstage doorway could have its own shutter, and rolls up to reveal a porch - from inside the house, ahead is then the garden, under the canopy, and to the right would be the main exit door.

BBDodge 15-09-2023 07:07 PM

That sounds about right. There doesn't appear to be anything resembling part of a House interior visible through the open stage door. This will be the first House where housemates sitting in the lounge will not have any daylight coming though doors or windows. They could build that "porch" area so housemates can look out onto the garden without being in it. And the eviction exit will be via that porch and turn right. Evictees can do the usual farewell to the other housemates and then the inner door will be shut (cutting off the crowd noise). The evictee will then wait for the outer door to open so they can emerge into the crowd.

Wonder what the scaffolding by the road/office spaces are going to be.

I would imagine that the gallery/production services/eviction interview/"BBLB" set will be on an opposing stage.

BBDodge 16-09-2023 08:03 AM

There's also scaffolding around the garden, above the camera run, so they haven't finished up there either.

Hadn't occurred to me but this could be strange. I hope the house manages to feel somewhat house-ish still, rather than feeling like a set.

Where is the house located this time. Sorry if I've missed that.

Inside a studio stage (apart from the garden which is in the car park). This is at Garden Studios in Park Royal, on the banks of the Grand Union Canal, which is south of Wembley (as you can see from the above drone shot which has the arch of Wembley Stadium in the background.

The whole house and production is to be in the same sound stage.
The sound stage is 4 times the size of the old compound.

Id quite like to see a sodding great big brother eye on the glass windows. They will all be blacked out too.

Interesting. I'm actually curious how the construction is going to be set up. I work in film and TV and on soundstages *every* sound carries.

I still can't quite get my head around potential layouts. Plus that garden looks really miniature! :omgno:

With those steps right up to where presumably the hosts will stand when presenting and talking to the camera, wonder how long until an audience member decides to try run up the stairs and get a moment of fame. At best there will be a tiny rope to try prevent people trying it - anything else given the design would just look tacky.

I believe both the new bbuk house and the bb usa house is a similar size compound.
Comparibly to the size of the soundstage. I imagine the house will be relatively small.

Here's BB9 and it's not exactly huge

The BB9 house was quite big in comparison to other years.

Yes it is smaller

More Tension/Anger
More Camera Close Ups

They may also have a Wide Angle Lens
that makes it look bigger than it is

I doubt a crowd would be allowed to stand that close, circling the steps, especially if the plan is to walk housemates and hosts up and down. There'll be crowd barriers I suspect.

No. During the BB17 house tour Emma made a point of saying the House had no natural light.

Ah, we have some greenery in the garden (most of it plastic).
