The Police need to say
who cut it down. |

Maybe it was dad but they thought nothing would happen if they said his son did it .. It did look like a very professional cut !! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |
Put it this way I guess - whoever cut it down, has cut down trees before and has experience using power tools. I guess it's possible that the kid has... But it seems unlikely? Someone using a chainsaw for the first time could cut down a tree but it would be a mess...

To make his song famous? |

Yes. Considering he lives a stones throw..you would have thought he might have heard something. Maybe busy making his own awful noise at the time, but I'm sceptical bout that. |

This is odd !!
::: Locals are outraged after a 1,000-year-old tree which dates back to the Battle of Hastings was mysteriously uprooted in a 'suspected felling' - just a week after Sycamore Gap Tree was cut down. The 40ft yew tree stood in a privately owned field near Uckham Lane, Battle, a mile from Senlac Hill. Speculation has mounted about how it had been toppled, with some suggesting the tree was deliberately cut down while others say it could have been knocked over by recent strong winds. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...037802a396.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

[A district judge said that the case of two men accused of felling the famous Sycamore Gap tree was so serious that it must be dealt with at the crown court. Daniel Graham, 38, of Milbeck Stables, Carlisle, and Adam Carruthers, 31, of Church Street, Wigton, Cumbria, are accused of causing £622,191 worth of damage to the much-photographed tree. They are also accused of causing £1,144 worth of damage to Hadrian’s Wall, a Unesco World Heritage Site, which was hit by the falling tree when it was felled overnight on September 28. Both the tree and the wall were said to belong to the National Trust.] https://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/pa...ict-judge.html |
I heard on the radio that this case has already cost the taxpayers over £700,000 !
That is shocking if correct Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |
So how much would it have cost to simply put in a replacement tree - Oh wait someone tried that and The National Trust removed it...

[Two groundworkers filmed themselves
cutting down one of Britain's most famous trees with a chainsaw before boasting about their 'moronic mission', a court heard today. Daniel Graham, 39, and Adam Carruthers, 32, from Carlisle, Cumbria, are on trial accused of felling the historic Sycamore Gap tree, which sat in a dip next to Hadrian's Wall in Northumberland, in an act of 'mindless vandalism'. The friends allegedly felled the tree 'in a matter of minutes' having driven 40 minutes from Carlisle to the tree in the late hours of September 27 2023 in Graham's Range Rover.] https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...urt-hears.html |
