What I will say (and I know that people will think that I'm being bitter saying this) is why Rotherham and Huddersfield (two teams that were practically already relegated) would spite us of staying in the League? Because that's all you're doing by all of a sudden deciding to want to play Football all of a sudden.

And look we're a **** team at the moment, I'm not denying that, but I don't get why Rotherham and Huddersfield were so invested in trying to stop us from staying up when they were both going down anyway?

Tbh most of this post was just ****ing dumb.

I do apologize guys.

2 points gained from the 2 relegated clubs is not good

I agree.

But I just have that feeling that typical Blues thing will happen and we beat Norwich on the final day.

But tbf, I don't think that Blues have deserved to stay up this season, our performances in 95% of the matches have been nothing short of disgraceful.

So if we do go down, then it might give us a chance to rebuild the squad for a better long term future.

joeysteele 28-04-2024 09:53 AM

I'm just keeping all crossed for an even 1-0 win for Birmingham in the last game.
Then for all or only one of Blackburn, Sheffield Wednesday and Plymouth to lose.

Birmingham know the task facing them.
It has to be a win to stay up.
11 draws again this season are no good, so many times 1 more goal would again have made a massive difference.

Then IF Birmingham can beat Norwich.
All that can be hoped for is a defeat for Sheffield Wed or Blackburn.
Or a defeat for or a draw for Plymouth.

From the first weeks of this season though what an almighty mess for Birmingham to be in.
A club that should have the investment in it enough to be even a Premier league club for the City it is from.

Cherie 28-04-2024 12:40 PM

You got Norwich next week who are already in the play offs so they might go easy on you Mock:laugh:

Dogeatdog 28-04-2024 01:40 PM

Sheffield Wednesday have really turned it around. Unbeaten in the last 5 and winning 3 of those games. Birmingham really needed that win against Huddersfield and they’ve let it slip.

I wouldn’t say it’s spite I’d say in regards to Rotherham there’s no pressure in how they have to perform because their fate has already been sealed. They can play more freely knowing that if they get a result or if they don’t it doesn’t really matter as there’s nothing to lose.

Huddersfield yesterday were in the same position Birmingham were in (albeit a bit worse because they had a couple less points). They actually still have something to fight for and they had the home advantage so they will go all out. Tbh they completely messed it up because they needed the 3 points and they didn’t get it so they’re pretty much relegated now.

Hopefully a good result against Norwich will keep you in the championship. Now you’ve gotta keep an eye on Plymouth and how they perform on Saturday too.

I agree with everything that you've said Joey.

I think that three things have harmed Blues this season.

1. Sacking Eustace and bringing Rooney in - We threw away a possible 13 other victories (excluding the two that Rooney actually did win) and obviously 13 more victories would've more than kept us up, or heck winning even just one more match in that period.

But instead the ownership tried to "educate" us on why Rooney would be a good Manager, and therefore wasted too many games that we could've won.

2. The Referee allowing Hull's Hand Of God goal to stand in our 1-1 draw with them at whatever Hull's Stadium is called (no offense Hull fans) because if the Referee, Linesman, and Fourth Official had've done their jobs then it would've been a 1-0 victory to us that night.

3. As soon as Mowbray unfortunately fell ill, the ownership should've got Rowett in within the first 3 games of Mowbray's absence.

Because no offense to Mark Venus, but he clearly isn't a Manager, and he was costing us valuable points with his poor tactics.

Norwich will have to play like Toddlers it feels like for us to win.

Or we recapture what we did to Coventry a couple of weeks ago, but it looks like that was a fluke.

Bizarrely though, I do just have that feeling that we will win, I honestly can't explain why I think that because there isn't much logic to it, but I can see a Jutkiewicz winner in the dying seconds to keep us up and relegating Plymouth instead.

Tbf you make a lot of fair points, I shouldn't really be taking my frustration out on Huddersfield and Rotherham.

If we can beat Norwich on Saturday then I think that we've probably done just enough to stay up, because the likelihood of us, Plymouth, Blackburn, and Sheffield Wed all not losing is incredibly low.

And thanks Dogeatdog, we desperately need a good result.

If we do go down though, we'll at least get to have a rematch against each other.

It's happening in a few hours guys.

I'm prepared for a bad outcome, but it's not the end of the world if we do get relegated I suppose, but it's disappointing considering the season that we could've had under Eustace.

I share all your concerns there Mock.

This is not where I thought Birmingham would be on this last game too.

The two games where we failed to beat Rotherham are where we would've stayed up if the players could've been bothered to try in them imo.

Hopefully they do sort their situation out though, as I know what it's like to support a team in dire financial straits, when we had BSHL that is.

At least we did our part on the day in question.

I hope and think that long term this really could be the start of a renaissance at Blues, I know that Denver has said something similar on here a few weeks ago and I do agree with him on it tbh.

Yes, it would've been nice to have stayed up obviously, but I do think that we would've been lagging behind the pack if we'd have stayed up.

Tragic. Absolutely tragic. Are they any good in speedway or basketball?

I think that Birmingham has a good Speedway team.

I don't think that we have a Basketball team unfortunately.

joeysteele 04-05-2024 06:59 PM

Can't believe Sunderland and Leicester failed so miserably at home today.

Really sad.

I hope it's a straight back up situation next season.
One of the worst weekends for me as to football this one however.

Beso 04-05-2024 07:00 PM

Can Leicester do a Leicester next year?

Sheffield Wed have got a really good Manager tbf, they're a team to watch out for next season imo.

Honestly I am disappointed in Leicester though.

Leicester are likely to go straight back down, along with the other 2 promoted teams
