Tbf, the MV makes it seem like it was a wild ride.

99.9% ?

I think that James Hetfield may have something to say about those figures

UK won't win but Olly might avoid bottom 5 i think

its between Israel, Poland, Albania for the win i think, all in english what everyone can understand, very commercially appealing songs with huge billboard chart potential, very modern entries too

Nicky91 26-03-2024 01:43 PM

i hope Niamh, Cherie are happy with Ireland's choice

unlike the UK, it is a very risky, alternative, artsy entry choice, bit similar to Melanie Martinez maybe, also bit similar to Konstrakta's quirkiness, in terms of song, i don't understand much of it, but tbh i just pretend it has irish celtic ethno vibes  and sound wise we all know RTE are kinda rubbish with their late late show studio quality :joker:

Zizu 26-03-2024 03:34 PM

Olly has millions of fans across the world and media outlets

That may have some bearing on the voting ??

Well he’s got 760,000 followers on Instagram alone plus around 680,000 instagram followers for the group Years & Years soooo
- loads of those will be the same but certainly not all …then there’s the people who follow him as an actor or ‘spokesman’

Black Dagger 26-03-2024 08:01 PM

Christ you’re dull.

Crimson Dynamo 26-03-2024 08:22 PM

That's Mr Dull

To you

Ammi 27-03-2024 08:03 AM

…for me, I hope that any voting isn’t follower/fan based but judged on the entry alone …as that for me would be no different from being ‘politically’ influenced…and with other countries, it’s not something I would like to see as a big or significant voting influencer, that voting was in any way based on a performer fan base…Olly has a good song, he has a great stage presence and a great style….and staging and styling are probably as important as the song choice, itself….other than our own UK song, my first experience of Eurovision songs is in the contest itself because without the staging and the styling and the on night performance …?…I feel that it’s really only getting part of an entry…of course, an important part…. but it can still all change on the night with songs that I might have dismissed as being less favourite…but the whole complete performance has left a huge lasting impact more than other performances that I felt more hopeful for on being familiar with the song alone….Olly has so much potential to be the full Eurovision performance in every way and I’m rooting for him, totally……

Crimson Dynamo 27-03-2024 08:20 AM

44/1 currently

lol

That's not true.

Years & Years in particular were a really popular group at one time.

they were briefly popular a long time ago but that has zero to so with X followers and how they are made up/bots and fake followers

Crimson Dynamo 27-03-2024 08:25 AM

current favourite is certainly different

Does the Irish entry identify as Non-Binary? Because if they do then the anti-Woke crowd (which yes they will exist even at an event like Eurovision) will probably put a stop to Ireland's entry, even though I personally think that it's a really standout performance personally, along with Norway and Croatia.

I know of quite a few fans of Olly from It's A Sin alone, let alone fans of his Music.

I get that you may not personally like him, but he definitely has a fanbase.

He’s got quite a wide selection of fans / followers

The group Years & Years , his subsequent and blossoming solo career, his acting career plus his involvement in the LGBT+ cause .. and he has also spoken openly about his own struggles with depression, self-harm, eating disorders and anxiety from age 13 onwards until now at 33 !!

He’s just a really a really kind and considerate guy who’s had tremendous successes tainted with a troubled last 20 years ..

His parents split when he was 13 years old and after that his mother raised him primarily as a single mother as his father couldn’t accept that his son was never gonna be a typical ‘lad’ and bullied and abused him relentlessly

They were indeed and still are.
They had success across Europe.

Olly still records as Years and Years but his last release Night Call album was his own solo work and made number one in the album charts.
With the single Sweet Talker being a modest entry on the UK charts too.
That was in 2022.
Until this song Dizzy, he hasn't released anything since then.

He has a hard core of fans who have stayed loyal.
Because of his personality and stage presence as he really involves the audiences he performs to..

I see nothing offensive about Olly myself and would number myself as a fan of him.
Plus I've always loved the song King.

Again I say good luck to him, obviously those of us in the UK cannot vote for him but I'll support him all the way definitely.

the question I raised was about "Millions"

Zizu camne back tt say he has well under a million followers on X

even if all were genuine people (utterly fanciful) its way way off Zizu's claim

No one claimed he does not have a fanbase - apart from you :conf:

He’s on loads of different platforms though .. I illustrated two sites with roughly 2/3 million on way one !

There are countless other platforms that he’s a prominent contributor on

he is yesterday's news and now has sealed his fate with a terrible unimaginative Eurovision song aimed at a predictable and tired target audience that other countries gave up on years ago

let it go

Well his Dad sounds like a vile piece of ****.

Hopefully he does well for us, I am nervous about the song if I'm being honest, but I do like Olly, so hopefully he can pull it off at the final.

I like King as well Joey, also Shine and Desire too.

I haven't really heard too much of his solo stuff tbh.

Well tbf 600-700,000 followers on Instagram alone, probably means he at least has one million people that like him when you add in other Social Media platforms, Forums, and the general public into the equation.
