Rachel backing out of the reply is very bad. Shows her to be not fit to be Chancellor. And any news on future Cost of Living payments? Yeah the Household Support fund extended to ONLY 6 months, but that's because after a May general election, the Tories won't be in. :p |

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/liv...remy-hunt.html [14:07 Sir Keir Starmer accuses Tories of 'delusion' Sir Keir Starmer has accused the Conservative Government of 'delusion' following the budget announcement. The Labour leader told the Commons: 'I mean over 14 years we have seen our fair share of delusion from the party opposite. A Prime Minister who thinks the cost of living crisis is starting to ease. 'An Education Secretary (Gillian Keegan) who thinks concrete crumbling on our children deserves her gratitude. A former prime minister (Liz Truss) who still believes crashing the pound was the right path for Britain.'] |

Just reading the headlines of this budget now, it is probably one of the worst budgets I have seen for a while, I can't imagine they think they will win an election off the back of this? I think they have thrown in the towel tbh

I'm sick of Sunak pussy footing around. I want a May General Election.
Today was a total farce. I wouldn't be 100% happy with a Labour government, but it'll be better than this current shambles. |
Chancellor Jeremy Hunt cuts workers' National Insurance by another 2p in the Budget, meaning it falls from 10% to 8%
He also increases the child benefit threshold from £50,000 to £60,000 Hunt says the National Insurance cut, to begin next month, is worth £450 a year for the average worker It follows a 2p cut in last year's Autumn Statement - but there is no change to income tax Labour leader Keir Starmer calls the Budget a "last desperate act" with people paying "more and more for less and less" New official forecasts say the government will collect 37.1p per pound of GDP in 2028/29 - the highest level in nearly 80 years The OBR also says the economy will grow faster than expected - that, plus some tax rises, and existing "fiscal headroom", are what's funding the cuts Hunt also increases the VAT threshold for small businesses to £90,000, and announces higher taxes on vapes and business class flights And he says he's "abolishing" the "non-dom" tax system, but new arrivals to the UK will still not pay taxes on foreign income for four years |
