Man arrested on suspicion of assisting Clapham chemical attack suspect - as new sighting reported…

A man has been arrested on suspicion of "hiding" the Clapham chemical attack suspect.

The 22-year-old man was arrested on Monday morning for allegedly assisting an offender and has been released on bail.

Police have said the manhunt for Abdul Ezedi - the suspect in the attack - is working at a "considerable pace", with more than 100 officers across the UK involved.

They will release new CCTV footage of him on Southwark Bridge, central London, on Wednesday evening.

They have recovered Ezedi's mobile phone from the car involved in the incident and are analysing it to establish the relationship between him and the victim.

They are not sure how long Ezedi has known the woman injured in the attack or if they were in a relationship, but said it is vital for them to understand how they knew each other.

Police said she has "significant facial injuries" and could lose sight in her right eye. She is still sedated in a critical but stable condition.

Police have narrowed down the substance used to "one or two alkalines" and also confirmed that Ezedi is not the father of the children who were injured in the attack.

There’s a theory that he’s being protected by the guys who initially smuggled him in .. but I wonder if they have possibly done away with him to protect their identities

He has settled status so why would he be with them :shrug:

he will be anywhere .... they will look for him on cctv and from public sightings now the public can get a reward. If he went to his original traffickers, one of them would hand him in for the cash, they have no loyalty to him

But then he’d presumably tell the authorities who smuggled him and how etc ?

He was granted asylum having arrived from Afghanistan, so he is here legally. You are going down a path that doesn't exist

See I’ve never understood why we release certain people on bail .. this is an example

We have a massive manhunt looking for an extremely dangerous individual yet we release one of his friends and fellow attackers .

This guy will no doubt flee the country

He arrived here in the back of a lorry and was denied asylum twice. After he was convicted of a sexual assault his third application was granted. It sounds like a joke.
