There was far too much negativity surrounding the Show, which is always the start of a Show on the decline.

i wouldn't mind it, no longer about music anyway, since the younger generations have ruined it

Very charitable.

I mean I doubt that Liam is wrong anyway, given how horrible some people were to her during a singing contest.

The Show just needs to fix three things, and I think that it'll be fine.

1. The people running Eurovision and the voters need to not make Politics the main aspect of the Show, it literally dominated this last series and it ruined the enjoyment of the competition for me, because everything ended up being about Israel. And obviously some of the voters and contestants that were trying to get her removed, and then throwing their toys out of the pram when it failed was absolutely pathetic imo.

There's nothing wrong with protesting against Israel by not voting for them/or supporting them, but trying to isolate a contestant because she happens to be from a country that's not popular due to stuff that Netanyahu has done, is not only unfair to her, but also incredibly cruel, especially when some of these people liked to act all self-righteous and moral, yet they can't even be civil about a girl in a singing contest.

2. I don't feel comfortable with winners happening that aren't even in the top four of the public vote, regardless of what I personally think of the song.

It's basically a waste of time people voting if someone who is in 5th Place in the public vote ends up being the winner.

It'd be like Tottenham being called the Premier League champions in this season just gone on the Football.

3. The zany costumes need to be dialled back a little bit, because nowadays the Show (and a lot of the audience tbf) do seem to think (and I'm going to be blunt when I say this) that the only way to be good is to dress like a freak.

For example the Latvia song didn't need the singer to dress like whatever the **** he was trying to look like, it was a normal ballad with a good vocalist singing the song, that's all it needed to stay as imo, but Eurovision couldn't resist, so they made him dress up like a weirdo.

There are other examples that I can think of in this series, but I get that it might be a touchy subject in some cases.

And just to clarify, no I am not on about Olly.

Case Against Women Abuser Joost Klein been dropped

Old Boomer Lawyer wants AVROTROS to bring EBU to court

Quote:

Start a defamation case against the EBU

Joost Klein is no longer being prosecuted in Sweden for threats. After all, the Swedish Public Prosecution Service considers insufficient or no evidence for such prosecution after an investigation. Nevertheless, the EBU (European Broadcasting Union) as the organising body of the Song Contest stands by its decision to disqualify Klein. Apologies were also not forthcoming.

According to the EBU, the Public Prosecution Service's decision to drop the case does not detract from the fact that, according to the EBU, Klein allegedly acted in violation of EBU rules. His disqualification was therefore justified according to the EBU. Unfortunately, it is not stated which rule was violated that justifies such a draconian punishment as disqualification.

Continuing to maintain the publicly stated view that Joost Klein allegedly committed a disqualifying act is without a doubt a defamatory accusation. He who deliberately attacks someone's honour or good name by accusing them of a certain fact with the apparent aim of publicising it, commits the criminal offence of defamation. AvroTros could therefore file a lawsuit of defamation against the EBU.

Especially since the consequence of the disqualification has also manifested itself in the Netherlands and the Netherlands can therefore be regarded as the place where the crime of defamation was committed.

It took an Israeli singer being abused for you to realise this?

nothing to do with Israel, this drama though

Joost didn't physically hit the swedish camerawomen, but he did knock the camera out of her hand, damaging camera equipment is also a form of assault honestly

but they go ahead, sue the EBU, well we'll soon be cheering on their indefinite ban from the contest then, and their revoked membership from the EBU entirely :fan:
