Stamping down implies a temper tantrum. I don't want anyone as a leader that believes they're ready to use nukes. It's the one thing absolutely no one should be ready for.

Our only legal justification for using nukes is if an opponent fired one against us (nato) first and if that has actually happened, it then becomes a case of retribution

Nukes are and have always been a threat. Even if a leader says they won't use them, who is to say they won't immediately change their mind if they actually do get attacked. Unless we disarm, it is always there as an option to future leaders

Look he gets angry every time Corbyn is mentioned

So Sunak should chuck that at tubby Starmer

It shouldn't necessarily follow that even if one is used against us, that we should retaliate straight back, because there is no good ending in that scenario.

I think you're missing the point a bit; caution should be the first response if they were fired at us, not eagerness for mutually assured destruction.

Crimson Dynamo 04-06-2024 05:39 PM

my guess is Starmer will say "change" 20 times in the first 30 mins

No one would like to have a mirror held up at them, revealing how vacuously empty they are.

joeysteele 04-06-2024 06:37 PM

Sunak should get more said because he talks more rapidly so can avoid interruptions.

Whereas Starmer has a kind of delayed reaction mechanism in speaking much more slowly.

bots 04-06-2024 06:44 PM

It's at least unlikely that either of them will spout complete gibberish or stare vacantly for extended periods without saying anything. We can all be thankful for some things

arista 04-06-2024 08:05 PM

we are live

arista 04-06-2024 08:10 PM

Looks like Starmer wins Question 1

MTVN 04-06-2024 08:13 PM

Sunak is risking the same issues he was guilty of against Truss where he talks over other people too much and won't shut up

Starmer didn't counter the tax claims very effectively though

i gave in and am watching it. Starmer so far has been awful.

The moderation is dreadful though, Sunak keeps butting in

This is hopeless
The presenter is doing a terrible job here.
She's not allotting equal time.
Terrible.

They're both doing badly admittedly.
Sunak is coming across more ignorant though.

bots 04-06-2024 08:28 PM

Starmer is getting more chance to explain himself now, but really, the message is labour will raise tax, tories wont

joeysteele 04-06-2024 08:35 PM

This reminds me of the trump/ Biden debates
Where Trump tried to take over completely just bludgeoning.
Biden shaking his head and needing to grab time if possible.

This presenter is shocking, she cannot get Sunak to be quiet even when she says so more than once.

This is as bad as PMQs to watch.
Awful.

bots 04-06-2024 08:43 PM

Starmer honestly looks out of his depth

joeysteele 04-06-2024 08:43 PM

Oh ITV made a big mistake having Julie as the presenter here.
Unfortunately.

Is she the presenter or is Sunak???

MTVN 04-06-2024 08:45 PM

I actually think Starmer is doing quite well  Sunak comes across too rude and belligerent

I agree mostly.

They're both really not doing at all well though.
