How many white people named Dwight Jackson do you know irl? Because my answer to that question is zero. I'm sure that they're out there, but I doubt it's that many. |

LT having his arse handed to him is always nice to see.
You can tell he thinks he’s right because he still posting (trolling) When you actually box him in with facts and pull his “opinions” apart he’s unsurprisingly quiet. |
Can’t be arsed reading the book, LT? Here’s an audiobook preview: https://youtu.be/41yU68Ej6mk?si=8hd3P6RC1cCZHXFu
Let me just see anyone else try to defend LT on this. Let me see those fools come out of the woodworks. KMT in advance. Even, let me see anyone try and defend bricks being thrown through people’s windows for no other marvellously reasonable reason than the colour of a young family’s skin. I know there are people on this half-clapped forum who honestly would defend that. |

I always like to hear alternative views to my own (even if I strongly disagree with them) but I feel like what LT and anybody else that's agreeing with him is failing to understand, is that those of us that would work presume that Dwight Jackson would be a black man ended up being correct, as he is a black man. So I highly doubt that the Hotel in question wouldn't be thinking on a similar line. I'm glad that you and a few other members can see my point of view though, Redway, because I thought that I was going crazy. Tbf to LT, this is probably the first topic on here where we're completely on opposite ends to each other on a topic, where we just don't understand each other's viewpoint (which tbf is natural to happen) that's life I guess. |

Dwight Jackson can be a black name but if you asked me without context, I would not have thought black right away. But Dwight is an older man's name, white or black. Jackson isn't race-specific, but it is common enough in black population that I can see where somebody, especially in specific communities or regions where the name is popular in those neighborhoods there that they might immediately make that assumption. It's not immediate for me. |
…I think the thing about the story is that it’s being said that he got an interview with the name change so the indication from that is that his name had some type of prejudice attached by the interviewers…and where someone lives would have a relevance too with an ‘image’ or ‘stereotype’ someone would associate with a specific name…I don’t know what will be made public but it’ll be interesting to hear the court thoughts…

the thing is, it may not have got to the point of someone human reading the application. These days, everything is pre-screened by computer, narrowing down the field to a manageable level before a human takes over
