People are divided on social media. "Boohoo to LA this is the devastation that US has caused to our countries for decades" :(

Ithinkiloveyoutoo 10-01-2025 12:20 PM

I don't know if I'm too sad for celebrities. With their millions they can rebuild or use one of their other homes. It's the everyday people I'm devastated for. Trump has a huge job on his hands. I hope the celebrities can contribute to the rebuilding of the city and that the government won't just charge massive amount of tax to the everyday working person

Vanessa 10-01-2025 12:21 PM

There are a lot of normal working people living in the area as well. It's not all rich celebs.

True

I really don't understand the contempt for wealthy people losing their belongings, their homes, their memories... Sounds so hard faced. It's like someone losing everything in this country and being reminded people in other counties have less to lose, so suck it up. The lack of empathy is real and hard to read.

Leaked memo reveals LA Mayor Karen Bass demanded her fire department cut
an extra $49 million just ONE WEEK before wildfires broke out

https://i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2025/01...6521218061.jpg

This cut is already on top of $17.6million of cuts in her latest budget.

The extra cuts, requested just days before fires broke out and devastated
swathes of Los Angeles, would have shut down 16 fire stations and crippled the
department's ability to respond to emergencies, sources said.

Yes the Press
know there is real corruption going down,
as they try to hide all their cutbacks in LA green zones

[Mandy Moore told her followers
to 'F Off' after she was criticized for asking
for donations for her relatives left
homeless by the LA fires.

The actress - one of the A-listers whose
homes were damaged as the wild fire swept
through the city this week - was slammed
by many after she shared a GoFundMe
for her family members on Instagram.

But Moore did not hold back when
replying to those asking her whether
she was contributing funds to her family.]

She's a singer, but she's also an actress yeah. She was popular during the 90s, has been in a few movies, has also sang for Disney.

I agree. I think every person's situation being unique has to be seen in its own context. We don't know how extensive the damage is for some of them. For some it may have been their retirement home and that was all their wealth, basically. So yes so and so may or may not have more money, but consider too, these are people who have worked and lived their own lives. It's hard to lose anything you've built. Consider too "the rich" are often in positions where just a bit more pressure can be applied collectively and maybe things can change.. after all people who put down huge chunks of money to put roots someplace is invested in the community. They have to be to have so much of their income invested in that property... especially without insurance :spin:. So they're more likely than the average person to say something about the long term issues since it's going to still impact them significantly and it could result in the change needed. I doubt it for a number of reasons, but with God, it's always possible. Anyway, some of these people, for better or worse, are now very tied to what happened in LA out of necessity, so they'll have to recover somehow. If they were carrying a mortgage and uninsured, even temporarily, they're now underwater (the irony..) on those mortgage(s). People with less money or no roots to pick up can leave more easily, I think. It's very hard to do that for people who are much older, have family ties in an area and are already settled... and whether they've sunk 100K or 1M in a home, it's not just restarting their lives but also have to rebuild financially from that point...

thesheriff443 11-01-2025 02:30 AM

The thing is
Would those rich celebrities and rich people in general help others?
The answer is no , so you can easily see why people that are already struggling couldn’t give a toss about rich people and what they have lost

…lots of people have heard of Mandy Moore, she isn’t someone who is just known in America…she has a long career since the 90’s but has more recently been in one of the most successful TV series, This is Us, which has been nominated for and won multiple awards and ran for 6 seasons…
