Actually we can check who's giving/taking away karma by looking at the site logs, but it's just not feasible when everyone U2U's the admin asking who took away their karma. If you feel someone is abusing it you can let us know and we can look into it, but for just individual cases theres not enough hours in the day :sad:

I've noticed this also, It's quite sad really there is a load of good people on this site that shouldn't have minus karma because they don't deserve it and it sends out a negative image to people about the user.

I know. This is not quite fair. I was on 1 and now am back to 0, for no reason. I did not even do anything, and i thought people who minus are meant to have a good reason as to why. I never subtract, if I see someone who is on minus i try to plus them to get them up again

Someone was probably reading through some old threads and didnt agree with something you wrote,so gave you neg karma.

I do not think people are using it to comment on the quality of other people's posts, they are doing it if you type something they disagree with. This is totally against the spirit of Voltaire.

My worry has been, if the karma were to affect whether you could post or not. Too much -ve Karma and you are banned for a period of time. Is this system independent of whether we can post or not?

A better system should have been rate a post.

good statement. i don't think members will decide who to get rid of by bad karma though. i mean, only admin or mods should be able to do that. maybe we should be rated in stars? out of 5?
