Random fact for you all... I have a qualification in Radio Production ;)

I presented my own radio show to about 10,000 people for 2 nights in the summer of 2007!
Ooh *makes sure that Magic signs up Fom as one of the producers*
I will do a Master Class to all the DJ's about how to prepare a show hehe.

Tom 19-10-2008 08:34 PM

I'd help out a bit, I'm good at like producing stuff, I did radio for Media A Level coursework so I'm a bit clued up on it. Maybe not as much as Fom but I know what i'm doing

Matt08 19-10-2008 08:36 PM

I'll get Magic to start a 'recruitment' process so that members can apply for different positions on the radio. Hopefully all of the members that want to can be part of the radio in some way.

Damaris 19-10-2008 08:37 PM

Ill record a single haha.

Im actully pretty good lol. Im like a drama school student lol.

Fom 19-10-2008 08:39 PM

Researching up on this guys... its a lot of work.
I genuinly think the podcast route is the best idea... unless someone is willing to donate a lot of money. You need a license so you can play music, and all music played has to be bought and not downloaded via limewire. Also you cant get free streaming... you will have to pay for hosting!

Obviously people wont contact us unless the radio got big... but if its associated with the forum it could get it all closed down. If someone crossed the radio and discovered unlicensed music was being played more than the website going down could happen.

If your up for it, I reckon it will be worth it... but it needs some back up before you even go into planning the shows, you will only get dissapointed. If all else fails... the podcast is still the best idea... maybe we can stream pre recorded podcasts on this server to make it feel like its live?

Releasing our own singles sounds wicked, even if it was just for a joke.
That way I could start advertising the track that me and my bf are working on [or well, he's producing]

I wanna help in some way :]
I could be TiBB's very own Nick Grimshaw<333
-runs off to think about Grimmy-

Damaris 19-10-2008 08:41 PM

I love Nick Grimshaw

Magic 19-10-2008 08:42 PM

Hmm, I agree Fom.
I dont know if its worth forking out alot of money for a thing that could be a fad, maybe trial the princibles of it over podcast.

Also, I assume music fees must be paid when it acts as a podcast?

There are ways to get around it though, maybe by creating a youtube channel and making the radio as videos, just with a blank screen or something on them, just not moving obviously.

Then because its youtube, it can't actually be closed down but videos removed if record companies don't like it, but with the amount thats on youtube anyway thats really unlikely.

 I hate legality! Hopefully we can come up with an amazing feel-like-it's-live podcast and add some other exciting features in to make up for it. Do you know if you are allowed to play music on a podcast Fom?

Damaris 19-10-2008 08:45 PM

Unfortunately, that would still be illegal.

Yes good idea to do a trial before forking out! And technically yes, but if we keep the podcast low key and no one knows about it but forum members... then we can be cheeky and not pay anything...

Maybe if we set a process of only members with over 500 posts can see it, that way its very very unlikely we can get in trouble! EVEN... we can have our own forum section for forum podcasts! Make a new topic for each one!

Haha, I will so make this idea work... I love it! And with my knowledge about radio's why not :dance2:

Damaris 19-10-2008 08:50 PM

Why would it be illegal?

My youtube idea would solve that (fines and stuff), the worst they can do is take the clip down :joker::tongue:

You'd be ripping music off a CD which is illegal in itself if it is not for personal use (I think) and we could need a license (which costs money) to broadcast the music.

Damaris 19-10-2008 08:52 PM

You can get those websites that are free and you webcam yourself live we could do it of that.

Callum 19-10-2008 08:52 PM

I buy all my music from iTunes.

Damaris 19-10-2008 08:53 PM

I buy albums and singles.

Fom 19-10-2008 08:53 PM

For Price ideas...

its £15 for up to 50 listeners a month.

That would be more of a TV show than a radio show then wouldn't it? It probably wouldn't look very good either but nice idea.

That isn't as expensive as I though it would be, if we could get enough ad revenue then something like that could be possible.

Tom 19-10-2008 09:10 PM

OK I've just had a good idea, why don't people who want to do it try it out first on freecast.co.uk where you can book a slot on a radio station, and if its a success keep booking slots, then eventually think about forking out for it and turning it into its own station
