like I said been there many times and have friends and relatives there. And I like listening to the likes of Rush and O'Reilly as well. And guess what they are incredibly popular over there. And why is it? Because they peddle the ignorance most Americans see as the truth. Those are the facts.

Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Lielly are hated by the majority of Americans. Talk radio is owned and dominated by the Right wing, even though it's changed a bit thanks to Air America Radio.

Bill O'Lielly's demographic is 80 to dead. He gets 1% of the American viewership. Keith Olbermann beats him in the 25-40 demographic, and people like Rachel Maddow are beating even the likes of Larry King. O'Lielly is porn to Conservatives. The entire Fox News Network is a 24/4 propaganda channel, run by Roger Ailes (Nixon's henchman), and Rupert Murdoch (the biggest threat to Western democracy in the last 3 decades).

There is the same level of whack jobs in Britain. BNP anyone?

Sorry that simply isnt true. I am aware completely of what Fox News is and am revolted by it but it continues to grow in popularity in America (I think they are on 24/7 rather than 24/4 though). As for the likes of O'Reilly and Rush, they are immensely popular and their books nearly always go to no.1 in the non fiction (ironic because most of it is fiction) list, and Rush has one of the most popular talk radio shows in America. I cant remember the BNP, who you seem to compare with this lot, have quite the same available coverage.
I honestly dont know why you chose to claim what you have. Besides they are only part of the problem, if Americans are taught about the world at schools and get nil or next to nothing in the way of World news, they will remain as ignorant of the truth as erne and LaToya showed on yesterdays show

O'Reilly and Limbaugh are popular for Americans that listen to talk radio or watch the mainstream media, not Americans in general. The majority of Americans reject that position as evidenced by Bush's popularity, Obama's presidency, and a slew of other polls.

I think this "ignorant American" stereotype is about a decade old now. One of the great advantages of being surrounded by BS is that eventually, you become immune to the BS.

I admit looking at the heading it could be taken that I was referring to ALL Americans , but that wasnt the impression I was trying to give. My point was about Americans like laToya and Verne. As I have stated I have many American friends and family and they are well travelled and not ignorant. Unfortunately it is the type of Americans like LaToya and Verne with their limited knowledge that makes people around the world dislike Americans as a whole.
