BGT got 13.1million viewers with a 15million (62%) peak on a night with very nice weather
I know its a bit of a different audience to Big Brother but it got over 3million in the 16-34's.
So that shows if a person wants to watch a show they will stop in on a Friday night and watch it. If Big Brother is good enough surely people will watch the biggest show of the week, the eviction on a Friday night but only if it becomes unmissable TV again

Firstly the BAD way:
BB10 is already doomed before its going to begin, the news about no love feed has created a negativity about the show. Also after CBB6's final of 3.3m-3.5m its worried everyone, I never thought a rating for a final would be that bad even if it was a boring series.

The GOOD way:
BB and CBB bring in DIFFERENT audiences, I know for a fact that CBB6 brought a large numbe rof people from ages 40 and over because most of the HMs were older. BB9's launch averaged at 5.8m and CBB6 averaged at 6m, and that is spectacular seeing as people were saying the show is dead. So if we have a range of HMs, the older audience of CBB6 and the younger taget audiences from BB9 will come together and get a respectable launch night figure. Also the ads look different, they could bring in old viewers, maybe?

Anyone agree??

Anyway, I think that the launch will get 4.8m. The first HL show will get 3.2m imo.
The lack of live feed has only really caused negativity amongst internet fans though, most normal viewers don't actually know or care. "Live feed" to most ordinary fans is what E4 show.

I don't really think that many will be turned away by CBB6, especially as it has a different audience to BB itself. So I expect BB launch to at least match the 5m set by the BB9 final.

I think we're actually worrying over nothing tbh .... BB10 will probably be the lowest rated but thats just due to BB running its course.

I LOVE BB, I'm a proper addict but I thought that the live feed was just shown on E4. I had no clue about the live feed on the internet.:blush2:

Does that mean we not be able to press red to watch live feed? :O

Anyone know the quiz's ratings last night?

=-Incognito-= 30-05-2009 11:49 AM

It's launching on thursday against weak competition. When the official ratings get released it'll make interesting reading.

Predicting 5.6 mil for launch night. 2.7m average for the HL show. 220k average BBLB. BBBM up to 800k average.

President 01-06-2009 12:07 PM

Are there any ratings for the Big Quiz and other shows?

*mazedsalv** 01-06-2009 12:26 PM

I agree that we shouldnt read much into the overnights because he officials add about 400,000-500,000 to the launch.

The thing is there isnt a reason why Bb should be able t get 5million+ because therers nothing very good and popular on at that time.

=-Incognito-= 05-06-2009 09:34 AM

4th June.

Launch 5.1m
BBBM 0.6m

Spike 05-06-2009 09:56 AM

A little less than I was expecting
but a good thing it that the 16-34's are up on over 100,00 from last year

\PJ/ 05-06-2009 10:08 AM

I think i predicted 5m in this thread but i can't find it.

Tom 05-06-2009 10:10 AM

They should aim for the ratings Hells Kitchen got, it launched with roughly the same figure (BB up 0.1m) and ended on 5.2m ... it got about 3-4m each day except the odd day and there is no reason why BB can't get similar ratings.

Hells Kitchen was on for 2-3weeks in the spring when the weather wasn't too good and also it was on ITV which already put around 0.5-1million onto the figures.
So its hard for Big Brother to do something similar because it on in the summer, over 13 weeks and on C4
Big Brother should be targeting an average of over 3million for the series and that will be seen as a success

LolaSvelt 05-06-2009 10:37 AM

The difference with BB and BGT is that BGT appeals to a large audience. The judges knew what they were doing when they let acts like 2 Grand through because it helped the ratings go high. And it definitely succeeded being one of the most highest rated shows since some football game.

Does anyone have the 5 minute breakdown for last night?

crossieKIDD 05-06-2009 11:08 AM

IT GOT 5.3MILLION!!!! YAYYY:dance::dance::dance:

Spike 05-06-2009 11:10 AM

I look forward to seeing the peak, im guessing it was at the beginning of the show because there was a bad reaction to the launch so it should of decreased over the show

crossieKIDD 05-06-2009 11:12 AM

5 minute break down is......

C4: 5 Minute Breakdown:
21.00 3.97m … 21.05 4.48m
21.10 4.83m … 21.15 4.13m
21.20 4.81m … 21.25 5.01m
21.30 4.22m … 21.35 5.05m
21.40 5.23m … 21.45 4.55m
21.50 5.00m … 21.55 5.30m
22.00 5.32m … 22.05 4.49m
22.10 5.18m … 22.15 5.34m
22.20 4.24m … 22.25 4.91m
22.30 5.16m

crossieKIDD 05-06-2009 11:12 AM

peak = 22.00 5.32m

Stu 05-06-2009 11:22 AM

Well, so much for the so called 'Big Brother fans until the end' who said the lack of live feed would kill the show stone dead. Some of them may have shown up to boo at everything in an attempt to ruin it for the couple of million or so other people that wanted to just enjoy the show, but, well, HA!

I'm assuming that's not including C4+1.

So the audience was pretty much consistent, if not going up.

Think of it this way, it was 3.3m above 2009s slot average of 1.8m.

The peak is ggreat and shows it still has pulling power and the 16-34 share and rating is brilliant
Another good thing is that the ratings generally increased which maybe shows public opinion of the launch was different to the negative feedback on people online which I also noticed around college today
Overall the show rated very well and was a major success taking all factors into consideration
