40. Little Britain - 29 points
http://partyworlduk.net/shop/images/...itain-Logo.jpg

It spawned an unprecedented amount of popular impersonation of its characters, and its catchphrases became a part of everyday speech. Matt Lucas and David Walliams' sketch show was arguably the most successful of the decade.

39. Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps - 30 points
http://img4.sidereel.com/_icon/2a8a.jpg

Featuring Sheridan Smith and Ralf Little, the sitcom set in Runcorn amongst a friend circle of chavs continues to be BBC Three's biggest show, despite being as funny as finding an aborted baby in your sink basin.

38. Benidorm - 30 points
http://www.webtvwire.com/wp-content/...idorm-logo.jpg

I'll be honest - I know very little of this show. I take it's a sitcom set in a chavvy holiday resort in the title location. Featuring Johnny Vegas and a host of cameo stars, Benidorm only began in 2007 but managed to quickly establish itself enough to get on here.

37. Alan Carr: Chatty Man - 30 points
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...tymanident.jpg

The camp comedian has had a pretty successful decade. Launching to fame via The Friday Night Project with Justin Lee Collins and a hugely-popular 'Tooth Fairy' live standup show, he's gone on to present a gameshow and now this. His feminine and outlandish style makes for an interesting interview whoever the participant.

36. Bad Girls - 31 points
http://sharetv.org/images/bad_girls_uk-show.jpg

You've no idea what I've just seen googling that image. The insane UK drama based in a womens' prison saw a whole host of absurd stories and sensationalist nonsense that made for spectacular viewing; including hauntings, murders, steamy relationships and comic relief.

35. The Simpsons - 31 points
http://www.toywebb.net/images/simp-logo.gif

Starting in 1989 on the Tracey Ullman [IIRC] show, the 90s was dominated by the yellow folk. However, its marketability and sheer dominance over US/international comedy continued and still does - now drawing massive names from both showbiz and politic (Tony Blair even featured). The decade also saw a Simpsons Movie, which reinforced the show's appeal.

34. Friday Night With Jonathan Ross - 33 points
http://i.telegraph.co.uk/telegraph/m...s_1244072c.jpg

Starting in 2001, the chat show King has taken over from the giant, Parkinson, as the country's most-watched talk-show. Since then, Ross has drawn in huge names from all fields of showbiz - from Barbra Streisand to Vivienne Westwood, David Bowie to Ricky Gervais - and, joined by house band 4 ***** and a Piano, continues to go from strength to strength (suspension aside).

33. Dancing on Ice - 34 points
http://sharetv.org/images/dancing_on_ice_uk-show.jpg

Perhaps one of the bizarrest brainwaves to emerge from reality television, ITV's answer to Strictly Come Dancing was to shove the celebs on ice and make use of Holly Willoughby's er...talents. It's camp, it's panto but it's successful.

32. Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway - 38 points
http://www.brianmay.com/queen/queenn...akeaway190.jpg

During the 90s, Saturday night's television viewing was the focal point of scheduling - with hit gameshows such as Blind Date and The Price is Right dominating. This died somewhat in the past decade, but one stellar success was this. With an army of Z-list celebs at their disposal, Ant and Dec's fun antics drew millions upon millions of viewers.

31. The Office - 39 points
http://sharetv.org/images/the_office_uk-show.jpg

With the simple premise of mock-documenting the mundanity of office life, Stephen Merchant and Ricky Gervais began what was to be a phenomenally successful decade for the pair with this gem of a comedy. Gervais' 'David Brent' is continually hailed as one of the greatest comedy characters of all time - his cringeworthy management style and desperation to be adored illustrating why.

Princess 04-01-2010 06:28 PM

YAY for Alan Carr,The Simpsons,Jonathan Ross,Ant and Dec and DOI!

Jords 04-01-2010 06:29 PM

30. Mock the Week - 42 points
http://www.mocktheweek.tv/images/logo.gif

The comedy panel show dealing with current affairs in a satirical swagger is one of BBC2's most-viewed shows and that's in no small part thanks to its regulars Dara O'Briain, Russell Howard and Frankie Boyle. It's often controversial, but its brand of comic satire has proved successful.

29. This Morning - 43 points
http://www.medi-direct.co.uk/images/this_morning.jpg

As the decade started this was still presented by Richard and Judy. Their departure in 2001, however, saw the show fall into the hands of Philip Schofield and Fern Britton (amongst others like Eamonn Holmes). Its popularity unwavered, and has picked up many NTV Awards [one of which was memorable for Judy Finnigan's boob making an impromptu appearance].

28. Heroes - 44 points
http://www.geekshow.us/wp/wp-content...eroes_logo.jpg

Comic book character-films have really returned to form in the past decade, with huge Spiderman, Batman and X-Men movies - so it was a matter of time before the transition into television was complete. For a period in 2006-7, everyone talked about Heroes - whether it was about the cheerleader who couldn't die, the telekinetic serial killer, the cute Japanese time-traveller...

27. The OC - 45 points
http://www.freewebs.com/the_oc_freakz/oc-logo.jpg

Teenage dramas have become a regularity in American viewing - names like Dawson's Creek, One Tree Hill and Gossip Girl continue to be talked about. However this one, starring Mischa Barton and Adam Brody amongst others, ran from '03 to '07 with a series of dramatic storylines.

26. Hollyoaks - 45 points
http://bigsecretpizzaparty.typepad.c...fe88970c-800wi

The UK teenage soap has had a lot of flack for its poor acting and concentration on casting 'good-looking' actors, but few can argue with the bravery its displayed in some of its controversial storylines. Dealing with issues varying from bulimia to incest, its audacity makes it a cut above other soaps.

25. The Games - 46 points
can't actually find the logo...

Another interesting take upon the reality TV concept this decade was The Games - which put a selection of TV faces through gruelling athletic challenges. It ran for 4 series between 2003 and 2006 on Channel 4.

24. Glee - 49 points
http://www.watch-glee.com/wp-content.../glee_logo.jpg

It's barely even begun on US TV, and only a pilot's been shown over here - but Glee has already been proven to be the next big thing. The premise is a Glee club [seen in the US as an after-school club for losers] with burgeoning musical talents - its soundtracks continue to perform well in iTunes charts.

23. Doctor Who - 50 points
http://snarkerati.com/movie-news/fil...r_who_logo.jpg

The reinvention of Doctor Who by Russell T. Davies in this decade saw what was formerly a geek kid's guilty pleasure become one of the most-loved family programs of the decade. First revamped with Christopher Ecclestone, it really took off in popularity courtesy of David Tennant - and special effects, dramatic storylines and a number of celebrity appearances/romances have made it arguably BBC's biggest show.

22. Scrubs - 53 points
http://www.nerdles.com/wp-content/up...bs_300x300.jpg

Set at Sacred Heart hospital, the silly-humour antics of JD and co. makes this one of the most popular comedies of recent times. Running since 2001, it has even drawn cameos from the like of Brendan Fraser, Heather Graham and Colin Farrell.

21. Peep Show - 53 points
http://www.maximumfun.org/images/peepshow.jpg

Set around two friends in their late 20s and their mismatched housesharing situation, Peep Show's DVD sales are perhaps the only reason the show's still being made. It has disappointing ratings but continues to be a cult hit amongst its fans, launching David Mitchell and Robert Webb's careers.

andyman 04-01-2010 09:54 PM

Jam, Spaced and Mighty Boosh for top 5.

Marc 04-01-2010 10:18 PM

Family Guy is like watching someone with tourettes. Funny the first few times, then you see is for the nonsensical, random **** that it is.

South Park completely showed it up in their two part Cartoon Wars.

Tom4784 05-01-2010 04:53 PM

I like Family Guy but in comparision to programs like South Park it doesn't hold a candle, It is dumb fun though and I do enjoy watching it.

Lewis. 05-01-2010 04:53 PM

Oooeeeer.. The final countdown :D

andyman 05-01-2010 04:55 PM

Looks like Jam could be number 1.

Shaun 05-01-2010 04:55 PM

10. Shameless - 101 points

http://downcharlestonblvd.files.word.../shameless.jpg

The Gallagher clan have been the dominant family on Channel 4 this decade - proving its most successful and long-lasting drama. It launched the career of James McAvoy and has dealt with story upon story of controversial material - drugs and sex being as common as night and day. SCATTER.

Shaun 05-01-2010 04:57 PM

9. Eastenders - 105 points

http://www.stompmanagement.com/stomp...eastenders.gif

The highest-placing soap on the countdown, Eastenders' storylines in the noughties have gripped the country by storm. Whether it was Who Shot Phil? or YOU AIN'T MY MUVVA - it's been a talking point for many...if only it wasn't so **** 95% of the time.

biglover 05-01-2010 04:58 PM

Family Guy for the win!!!!!!!!!

Shaun 05-01-2010 04:58 PM

Family Guy was 13th you daft mare.
